For the third time since Christmas, our little town has been visited by the 
Death Angel. On the morning of April 25th it hovered over the home of Mr. 
G.W. Lewis and beckoned the spirit of his daughter Adilene, to a brighter 
home beyond, to an eternal home on high, where there is no pain, nor sorrow 
nor death, to dwell forever with her Savior. She was born on April 10, 1856. 
In 1870 she recognized the Lord as being her Savior and united with the 
Baptist church at Bethel, in Heard county. Those who knew her loved her 
most. Her death resulted from an attack of pneumonia. She is survived by her 
parents and five brothers, the latter being John Lewis of Texas, G.W. Lewis 
Jr. of Atlanta, J.B. Strong of Welcome, Gartrell Lewis of LaGrange and J.C. 
Lewis of Madras. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. F.J. Amis of 
Welcome after which the remains were laid to rest in Jones Chapel cemetery.
