J.E. BAIRD Mrs. Joseph E. Baird and family, accompanied by other relatives and a number of friends went to Texas, Georgia last Friday morning to attend the funeral and interment of the venerable mother of Mrs. Baird, Mrs. S.E. Pope, who died after a short illness at 4 a.m. on Thursday at the home of her daughter Mrs. M.C. Baird in that community. The services were conducted by Rev. A.V. Roarck, pastor of the Methodist church at Franklin, Georgia, and were attended by many friends and neighbors of this honored mother. The deceased would have been 87 years of age had she lived to February 1, 1927. At a service during the church union meeting in Roanoke last July, Mrs. Pope was presented with a bouquet as being the oldest person present.
