Mrs. Prince was born in Bowdon on Dec 7, 1904, the daughter of the late Herman J. and Nancy E. Smith Reaves. She was a member of the Bowdon First United Methodist Church. She taught first grade for more than 40 years to three generations of children in Heard County. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Earl Vernon Kelley and James Benjamin "Jim" Prince; a son Charles Edward Kelley; brothers Elliott, Lent, Robert, Herman and Bradley Reaves; and sisters, Willie Reaves Copeland and Nelle Reaves Smith; step-son Rev. Hulett Prince; and step-daughter Thelma Prince Laster. Survivors include her sons Jerry G. Kelley of Ponte Verde, Fla; and Zane R. Kelley of Atlanta; daughter Sylvia Kelley Tyree of Ephesus; step-children, Theo Prince Clegg of LaGrange, C. Wayne Prince of Ephesus, J.B. Prince of Tallapoosa; sister Evelyn Reaves Butler of Bowdon; three grandchildren, two great grandchildren and 11 step grandchildren. Funeral services were Sunday Feb 1 at 2 p.m. at Ephesus Baptist Church with Rev. Neil Awbrey and Rev. Tony Morris officiating. The Prince family provided music. Pallbearers were Joel H. Prince, Chip Fortenberry, Elliott Butler, Brad Reaves, Billy Smith, Roger Kelley, Dueul H. Kelley, Lee Laster and Gerald Clegg. Burial followed in Bowdon First United Methodist Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the charity of their choice. Rainwater Funeral Home, Bowdon.
