Will of  Shadrac Crouch

State of Georgia, Heard County

In the name of God, Amen,  I,  Shadrac Crouch of said State and County being 
of advanced age and knowing that I must shortly depart this life deem it right 
and proper both as respects my family and myself that I should make a 
disposition of the property with which a kind providence has blessed me, do 
therefore make this my Last Will and Testament hereby revoking all others 
heretofore made by me.

1st Item.  I desire and direct that my body be buried in a decent Christian 
like manner suitable to my circumstances and conditions in life.

2nd Item.  I desire and direct that all my just debts be paid without delay by 
my Executors hereinafter named.

3rd Item.  I give, bequeath and devise to my beloved wife Catherine Eliza, 
wife with whom I have lived for thirty five years, forty acres of land in 
Heard Co GA Nos 183 one hundred and eight three about all cleared of the above 
forty acres of land and also one hundred and fifty two and 90/100 of an acre 
in Randolph County Alabama known and dinstinguished as follows;  section 
thirty six in township twenty one of Range thirteen in said State and County 
about one hundred acres of said Alabama lands cleared with all the rights, 
members and appertances to said land in anywise belonging to her own proper 
use benefit and behoof during her widowhood or during her natural life.  I 
also give and bequeath to my beloved wife in the same manner the farming 
utinsils used on and belonging on said plantation of every description 
whatever and all my stock, horses, mules, cows, hogs, sheep, all of my 
household and kitchen furniture belonging to and used on said plantation.

4th Item. I have given to my older children by my first wife Elizabeth namely 
in money and other property each one to the amount herein mentioned;  Joseph 
C. Crouch three hundred and ten dollars;  Leander Crouch three hundred and 
five dollars;  Addie Book  two hundred and fifty five dollars;  F.M. Crouch 
one hundred dollars;  Mary Ann Skipper sixty dollars. 

5th Item.  I have given to my son Thomas three hundred dollars;  to my 
daughter Susan Jackson two hundred and fifty dollars;  N.C. Crouch two hundred 
and fifty dollars;  Lucy Whatley fifty five dollars;   J.A. Crouch one hundred 
and thirty dollars.  I next desire that my other minor children M.F. Crouch,  
V.D. Crouch,  E.R. Crouch and all my last wife's children be made equal in the 
disposition of my property with my first wife's children at the death of my 
wife Catherine or after widowhood.

6th Item.  I hereby appoint my wife Executrix of this my Last Will and 
Testament the 24th March 1877.  Shadrac Crouch
Signed, sealed declared and published by Shadrac Crouch as his Last Will and 
Testament in the presence  of us the subscribers who subscribed our names in 
the presence of said testator at his special instance and request and of each

Ordinary's Office, Heard County, Georgia
I,  C.B. McCutchens, Clerk of the Court of Ordinary in and for said County do 
hereby certify that the above and foregoing writing contains the true and last 
Willa nd Testament together with its attestation of Shadrac Crouch late of 
said County, deceased as admitted to record on the 5th day of December 1881.  
Witness my hand and official signature with the seal of said Court attached.
