Mary was living with her son John T. Bentley in Henry County, Georgia when she appliied for Pension. The following record was sent to me by Marilyn Dawson of Texas. I have a copy of the original application of Mary Scott, but not of the REJECTED application of her husband Jesse (rejected due to incompletion because of his old age and illness). Page 56 R-785: GA/GA "JESSE BENTLEY m. MARY SCOTT, 5 Oct. 1784, by Esq. BENJ. CATCHING, Wilkes Co., GA. (The information about Esq. BENJ. CATCHING is NOT mentioned in the two bible pages or anywhere in Mary's Pension Application. My research shows that Benjamin Catchings was a Judge in Wilkes County and was a Major during the Revolutionary War coming to Wilkes County, Georgia in 1769 according to DAR records. He fought in the Georgia Militia. So does this mean that Jesse's original REJECTED application still exists and there is MORE information on it than on Mary's Pension application? Did these two ladies have BOTH applications to glean their information from?) BIBLE RECORD: JOHN T. BENTLEY born 27 May 1786 JOSIAH BENTLEY born 3 Nov. 1788 ELIZABETH J.
