Introduction:
This cemetery is located in Land Lot 210 of the 6th District of Henry 
County, McDonough, Georgia.   I75S to Exit 218.  West on GA Hwy. 20.  
Right on Oakland Rd.  Cemetery is on right in a cow pasture in a stand 
of trees, surrounded by a wire fence.  The property is currently
owned by the Simpsons.  This is an inactive family cemetery.  Records 
note that other members of the Akin & Tarpley family are buried at Liberty 
Baptist Church in Hampton, Georgia.

There are several handmade tombs without markers.  They are decorated on 
the tops in a mound-shape by sea shells.  Records show that Robert Homer 
Farris (d. 1898) is supposed to be buried in this cemetery, and 
speculation that John C., Elizabeth, Coleman & Mary Ann Tarpley are
buried here also.  No written markers are noted, so these may be their 
gravesites.

Milton Akin was married to Lucinda Daniel*, daughter of James & Grezie 
(Clemonte) Daniel.  

The Allen, Farris, Payne & Tarpley families are all related through 
marriage.  Linton Earl Allen was the son of Sally Payne (daughter of 
Abner Payne & Caroline Johnson) & Washington Allen.  The Paynes are 
heavily associated with the Farris family.  

Mary Jane Farris was the daughter of Robert Homer Farris & Louisa 
Tarpley.  Ida Tarpley (daughter of Coleman Tarpley (son of John C. & 
Elizabeth Jenkins Tarpley) & Mary Ann Farris), married Marion Jackson, 
and she died shortly after her son Carl Dow was born.  Lorenzo Dow 
Tarpley was the brother of Coleman, and the nephew of Robert W.  Of note 
is that Confederate veteran Lorenzo was bestowed the Southern Cross of 
Honor on January 19 (year unknown).

* A survey completed by William Joseph McLeer, Jr., Troop 136, Jonesboro, GA
showed the the following information, but was not found by this compiler:
Dorina Akins (Dowrina Akins) instead of Lucinda Akin.
