Introduction:
This cemetery is located in Land Lot 173 of the 7th district of Henry County, McDonough,
Georgia.  I75S to Exit 221 (Jonesboro Rd./Lovejoy).  East to McDonough Square.  Follow 
GA Hwy. 81 towards Covington.  Turn right on River Park Circle at River Park subdivision.
Cemetery is on the right approximately .10 miles from the entrance enclosed by a chain-link fence.  
This is an inactive cemetery.

Joseph Josiah Harkness (son of George & Mary Harkness, grandson of Elias Harkness, of 
Mecklenburg Co., SC) married Mary Ann Shadrick (daughter of Samuel & Nancy Shadrick) on 
09/23/1830, in Butts Co., GA.  Out of their fourteen children, three are buried here, 
all casualties of the civil war. 

Joseph J. married Mary D. Nash and they had one daugher, Mary Jane Harkness.  John L. 
married Martha Hooten, with no issue.  Samuel George Washington never married.  According
to available records, Samuel is buried at Seven Pines, VA; however, there is a marker here.
This may have been placed by the family as a memorial.
