Introduction:

This cemetery is located in Land Lot 35 of the 7th District of Henry
County, Georgia. I-75S to Exit 222 (Jodeco/Flippen), East on Jodeco
Road, which will dead-end into GA Hwy. 42, left.  Brief right on
Campground Road.  Cemetery on left at intersection of GA Hwy. 42 &
Campground. (A popular BBQ establishment known as "White House BBQ"
thrived in front of the cemetery until 1998).  A chain-link fence
encloses the entire cemetery.  This is an inactive family cemetery.

Community records show that this cemetery was purchased from William
Hudson, who had originally set aside this property for a community
burial ground.  Supposedly, Hiram Lester (age 128 years at death), and
Ed Lester (his son, 108 years at death), are buried here.  However,
no grave markers were noted.  There are many stones without descriptions.

Whitman "Whit" C. Pair was married toVirginia Phillips, daughter of
Jonathan Phillips).  They had eight children.  Whit served with
Company G, 63rd Regiment, Army of Tennessee.

John Newton Lovvorn, Sr., son of  James Lovvorn, Sr. and Hanna Smith,
was married to Martha Lovorn.  They had seven children.

Henry Smith Steele was the first husband of five married to Elizabeth
Ann Pair (daughter of Whitman & Virginia Pair), their only child being
John Wesley Steele.  Both Elizabeth & J.W. Steele are buried at Salem
Baptist Church Cemetery.

Robert Steele was married to Mary Ann Edelman. They had four children.

William G. Steele was married to Julia Ann Pair, daughter of William
Pair and ? Carroll.  Julia was also the sister of Whitman.  They had
eight children.
