Ellis of the County and State aforesaid of the one part and Lazarus Summerlin of the County of Clarke and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that John A. Ellis for and in consideration of the sum of eight hundred dollars to him in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold and conveyed and by these presents grant bargain sell and convey unto the said Lazarus Summerlin his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of Henry and State aforesaid in the eighth district of said County known by number two hundred and twenty three and the South fork of the Oakmulgee River containing two hundred and two and a half acres more or less and granted to John A. Ellis on the 4th Feby 1823 to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land unto him the said Lazarus Summerlin his heirs and assigns together with all and singular the rights members and appurtenances thereof to the same in any manner belonging to his and their own proper use benefit and behoof forever in fee simple and the said John A. Ellis for himself his heirs executors administrators and assigns the said bargained premises unto the said Lazarus Summerlin his heirs and assigns will warrant and forever defend the right and title thereof against themselves and against the claim of all and every other person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof the said John A. Ellis hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year above written. Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of John A. Ellis John Hale S Johnson, J.P.
