This Indenture made the tenth day of February in 
the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and thirty 
eight, between Ira Farmer of the county & State aforesaid of the one 
part, and Martin L. Ruff of the county of Cobb & State aforesaid 
of the other part  Witnesseth that for and in consideration of 
the sum of two hundred and twenty five dollars to him in 
hand  paid at and before the sealing of these presents the re
ceipt whereof is hereby acknowledged  hath bargained  sold & 
conveyed & by these presents do grant  bargain  sell and convey unto 
the said M L Ruff  his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel 
of land lying & being in the 12th Dist. of Henry County being the 
west half of lot No 181 one hundred & eighty acres in said district 
containing one hundred one & one fourth acres  more or less  To have 
and to hold with all and singular the rights & privileges be 
longing to or in any wise appertaining to said bargained prem
ises  And the said Farmer doth warrant and will forever defend 
the title to said bargained premises from myself  my heirs & assigns 
against all other persons unto the said M L Ruff  his heirs & assigns 
forever in fee simple  In witness whereof I hereunto have 
set my hand & affixed my seal the day & year first above

In person appeared before me William Ruff and after
being duly sworn deposeth and saith that he saw Ira E. 
Farmer sign  seal and deliver the written deed for the purposes there 
in mentioned and he saw Thomas Mitchell subscribe the same as a 
subscribing witness this the 19 day of May 1838
