Henry County }  This Indenture made and entered into this fifth day of August 
in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and forty six between Elijah 
Strickland of the county and State aforesaid of the one part and Joshua Elder 
of the same place of the other part Witnesseth that for and in consideration 
of the sum of one hundred and thirty six dollars to him in hand paid to the 
said Elijah Strickland by the said Joshua Elder the receipt is hereby 
acknowledged hath bargained sold and delivered and doth by these presents sell 
and convey unto the said Joshua Elder all that parcel of land situate lying 
and being in the Third District of Henry County it being a part of lot known 
in the plan of said district by number (25) twenty five with boundaries as 
follows beginning at the Southwest corner of said lot and running north along 
the original line 148 1/3 Rods to a post oak thence eastward along a road to 
the branch to a willow oak thence down the branch following the meanderings of 
the same to where it intersects the original land line thence west to the 
beginning the same containing 345(?) acres more or less to have and to hold 
the said tract of land to the said Joshua elder his heirs and assigns and 
Elijah Strickland will warrant and forever defend against him and his heirs 
and assigns and against the claim of all other persons whatsoever to the same 
belonging or in anywise appertaining in fee simple in witness whereof the said 
Elijah Strickland has hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and 
year above written the words to a willow oak interlined before assigned
