STANFIELD states he is a bona fide citizen of the State of Georgia, and has been continually since 25 June 1838; that he enlisted as a Private in Company A of 44th Regiment, Georgia Volunteers, RIPLEY'S Brigade. Was at the Battle of Gettysburg, PA, wounded 3 July 1863 in the base or back portion of skull, causing a depression of one inch in depth and destroying one inch in diameter of the external plait [sic] of said skull - Whereby said wound renders the deponent substantially and essentially unfit to perform any manual labor on consequent of said labor. Resident of Henry Co. 1890 Reapplied, received $50.00 per year. Only change from original application was stated he served DOE'S BRIGADE. Resident of Henry Co. Reapplied 1891, 1892, 1893, no changes. Resident of Henry Co. Reapplied 1896, increase to $100.00 per year. Stated he served COOK'S Brigade. Notation on Form, Pension No. 347 "For those Already Enrolled", "From Fulton 1895", so soldier may have lived in Fulton Co. at some time in 1894-1895. CHARLIE J.
