Be it enacted, and it is herein enacted, that from and after this date, March 16, 1897, any person, firm or corporation doing business in the town of McDonough for the year 1897, shall pay the following taxes, to wit: Hotels, public boarding houses, restaurants, lunch counters, etc.....$6.00 Livery, feed and sale stables.........................................6.00 Dealers in horses and mules (exclusively).............................3.00 Blacksmith and repair shops...........................................6.00 Shoe and harness shops................................................2.00 Soda founts, cold drinks, etc.........................................6.00 Furniture and undertakers.............................................6.00 Pianos, organs and other musical goods................................3.00 Building material, lumber, shingles, etc..............................4.00 Fertilizers, etc......................................................6.00 Jeweler and repair shops..............................................4.00 Picture frames, art goods, etc........................................2.00 Millinery.............................................................4.00 Barber Shops..........................................................5.00 Sewing machines, Hay rakes, mowers, etc...............................2.00 Druggist..............................................................6.00 Printing offices......................................................6.00 Agents for Loans and Trust Co.’s etc..................................6.00 Insurance agents......................................................6.00 Groceries, dry goods, hardware or general merchandise.................6.00 Foundries, machine shops, plaining mills, etc.........................6.00 Dealers in cotton used................................................6.00 Tin and repair shops..................................................2.00 Dying, cleaning clothes, etc..........................................4.00 Two horse drays.......................................................4.00 One horse drays.......................................................2.00 Sec. 2. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to do business of any kind not herein mentioned, for pecuniary gain, without first securing license for the doing of same, and for the violations of same, shall be subject to a fine of not exceeding thirty dollars or thirty days on the streets at the discretion of the mayor. Sec. 3 All bylaws coming in conflict with the above are hereby repealed. March 16, 1897. BICYCLES Sec. 1. Be it enacted, and it is herein enacted, that from and after this date, March 16, 1897, any person, or persons riding a bicycle in the town of McDonough at a rate of over six miles per hour shall be guilty of disorderly conduct and subject to a fine according to section Seven of the new amended charter. Sec. 2. Be it further enacted, that it shall be unlawful for any persons riding a bicycle on the sidewalks to either meet or pass any person or persons, while on their bicycle, and for the violation of same shall be subject to a fine of not exceeding twenty dollars or thirty days on the streets, at the discretion of the mayor.
