C. Doe made a shopping tour to Atlanta Friday. ~Miss Emily Griffin, of Hampton was in the city Thursday. ~Miss S. S. Speer motored to Atlanta Saturday. ~Mr. Bob Townsend spent the week end with his sister, Mrs. J. T. Weems. ~Miss Louise Smith has returned home after an extended visit to Miss Sarah Smith at Jackson. ~Miss Mary Weems left for Agnes Scott Wednesday where she enters the Freshman class. ~Messrs. Henry Amis and E. M. Copeland motored to Jackson Thursday afternoon. ~Mr. Jack Craft Jr. of Hartwell, visited relatives in McDonough during the past week. ~Misses Talitha and Rebecca Smith left Wednesday for Rome where they will enter Shorter College. ~Mr. Frank Newman, of Atlanta, is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Newman. ~The many friends of Miss Annie G. Thompson are delighted to see her able to resume her work at the Farmer’s and Merchants Bank. ~Messrs. Gordon and Howell Dickson spent the week-end at home. ~Mr. Edwin Rape returned home Monday suffering with an abscessed tooth. We trust that he will find immediate relief. ~Messrs. Wyman Tucker and Charles Young, of Conyers, were in the city Friday. ~Miss Bertha Turner left Wednesday for Macon where she enters upon her second year’s work at Wesleyan. ~Mr. and Mrs. Owen Moseley have moved into the home of Mrs. Moseley’s father, Mr. E. Oglesby. ~Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Weems and Miss Mary Weems motored to Atlanta Friday. ~Miss Ellene Neal left Sunday at noon for Columbia, S. C., where she has a position in the schools for the ensuing year. ~Mrs. E. A. Stephens and Mr. Hamilton Stephens, of Atlanta arrived Monday afternoon to visit Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Carmichael. ~Mrs. W. S. Almand, Miss Coroline Almand and Mr. R. L. King, of Conyers, visited Rev. and Mr. L. D. King Friday. ~Mrs. LaTrelle Robinson and little daughter LaTrelle left for Macon Tuesday to visit friends before returning to her home in Savannah. ~Mrs. Cora Hill, Misses Musette and Tommy Grace Hill returned to their home at Bullochville Sunday, after a delightful visit to Mrs. A. K. Brown. ~Mr. Walter G. Elliott has returned from a summer in Kentucky and will resume his medical studies at Emory University this fall. ~Hon. and Mrs. J. W. Wise and children, of Fayetteville, spent Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Copeland. ~Miss Louise Elliott has secured a position in the school at Luella and entered upon her new duties Monday morning. ~A little party of the young society set enjoyed a delightful outing at Lake Davis on last Thursday evening Boating, swimming and the picnic luncheon filled the pleasant hours of the merry party. Thos attending were: Misses Alice Brown, Bertha Turner, Talitha and Rebecca Smith, and Messrs. Jeptha Pullen, Murray Copeland, Daniel Amis, Charles Low and Mr. and Mrs. Levi Turner. ~Tal Carmichael has a fine cotton crop. Competent judges think he will make 1000 pounds per acre on his entire crop of 125 acres. He made 50 bushels of oats per acre on 40 acres. The same land is planted in corn and will make 30 or 35 bushels to the acre. He has 2000 white leghorn hens that are laying 800 or 900 eggs daily.
