P. Copeland is having his residence improved by re-painting and papering throughout, and when completed it will be one of the neatest and most comfortable in town. Mr. C. J. Tidwell has the entire work in charge, which insures the first-class, artistic finish. ~Ordinary Nelson requests us to state that he has received the blanks for soldier’s widows who have not drawn pensions, and those who desire to make applications most do so by the 15th of February. The blanks for those who have already drawn will be renewed next week. ~Mr. H. M. Tolleson did an excellent business in the stock line Wednesday, notwithstanding the excitement and confusion, selling five mules and two horses, besides swapping twice. Mr. Tolleson has some of the finest stock ever brought to McDonough, and his enterprise is being rewarded by ready sales. ~Miss Ethel Tye left last Sunday for Athens, where she will attend school at Lucy Cobb Institute this year. ~Mr. John N. Smith has moved his family to Jenkinsburg, where he contemplates making his future home. ~Mr. Gus Morrow of Jonesboro, and Mr. Walter Hughlin, of Flippen, attended the dance last Friday night. ~Raleigh Harper, who is “sticking type” on the Pike County Journal, spent Christmas with the home folks. ~Jack Nolan, agent E. T. V. & G. R. R. at McDonough, was in the city yesterday. Griffin Daily News, 5th inst. ~Misses Tallie Johnson and Annie Harris, of Flippen, visited Misses Birdie and Lila Daniel during the holidays. ~Miss Marguerite Crawford and Mrs. Norah Vincent, of Jonesboro, attended the dance in McDonough last Friday night. ~Mr. George Knott, and sister, Miss Mattie, spent a few days of Christmas in McDonough, with relatives and friends. ~Mr. Bob Moriss, of Midville, couldn’t resist the temptation to spend a day or two of the holidays with his McDonough friends. ~Mrs. W. C. Sloan returned home Monday from an extended visit to her daughter, Mrs. E. L. McDonald, at Ashbury, Ga. ~Mrs. M. E. Gray, of Columbus, visited her son, Clarence, in McDonough during the holidays, and attended the Masquerade party. ~Mr. H. C. Hanson, of Atlanta, representing the New York Life Insurance Co., has been in McDonough the past week in the interest of his company. ~Harris Carmichael, Authur Copeland and Emmett McKibben left Wednesday for Milledgeville, where they contemplate entering the excellent military school at that place. ~Mr. H. W. Carmichael has engaged the services of MR. Bankston, a first-class blacksmith from Barnesville, for the ensuing year. Mr. Bankston has moved his family to this place. ~Miss Nollie Reagan, the charming little daughter of Col. E. J. Reagan, of McDonough, spent several days here this week.
