The Henry County Weekly
     An unusually impressive service was held at the Rocky Creek Baptist Church 
last Sunday afternoon in the ordination of two new Deacons, Brethren J. J. 
Welch and Moses Hicks. The good people of this community came together in the 
morning at their regular service, it was orated around during the week before 
that it might be an all day affair. So the good ladies of the community came 
together and served an old time Association dinner on the grounds to the 
delight and comfort of everyone.
     In the afternoon a live inspiring song service was led by the Pastor Rev. 
H. M. Cannon, after which the church went in the ordination of Brethren Welch 
and Hicks.
     The Presbytery was composed of Dr. W. W. Arnold, Dr. C. L. McGuity, Rev. 
A. A. Heath, Rev. H. M. Cannon, Deacons, C. C. Nail, J. T. Greer, M. F. 
Harrison, Tom Clayton, J. M. Tarpley, E. M. Copeland and T. J. Standard.
     Rev. H. M. Cannon was named Moderator and E. M. Copeland, Clerk of the 
Presbytery.
     Dr. Arnold preached the ordination sermon, taking as his text Acts 6-1 to 
7 and 1st Timothy 3-8 to 13.
     Deacon J. T. Greer presented the Brethren to the Presbytery. Rev. H. M. 
Cannon propounded the question and Rev. A. A. Heath offered the prayer, after 
which Dr. McGuity delivered the charge to the congregation, Deacons and Church 
taking for his text 1st. Timothy 3rd chapter and 10th verse.
     The spirit of the Master was manifested in this gathering of Christian 
people and everyone was made to feel and enjoy the blessed occasion.
