Z. Carter of McDonough, was discovered to be in flames. The fire department made its usual quick run and threw two streams on the building, but the fire had gotten such headway that nothing could be done. The origin of the fire is unknown as the house had been vacant for ten days, and a new tenant, Thurman Pope, was to have moved in Friday. The house stood next to the Frank Meador's home and was valued at $4,000. Lester and White carried $3000 insurance on the property.
