The fact that old and young, fathers and mothers will spell with their children, and the probability of a little girl or boy turning down a father or mother, makes it doubly interesting, and insures its success. There will be two prizes to prompt the spellers to do their very best, a nice dictionary to the one who stands the longest, and the blue back speller from which the lesson will be given out, to the poorest speller. Judge Nelson, Mr. J. C. Daniel and Mr. J. A. Fouche have been selected as Judges to settle disputed questions. The court house doors will be open at half past 6 o’clock, and the spelling bee will begin at half past 7, as it will take some time for the crowd to collect. We give below the rules which have been adopted by the Society for the Bee. Rule No. 1 The class will spell three times around before choosing sides. No. 2. Only one trial will be given a speller. No. 3. I there are two ways to spell a word, the definition will be given to the word given out. No. 4. Judges will be appointed to settle all disputed questions.
