Thomas L. Sutton was elected mayor and W. A. Simpson, J. F. M. Fields, E. M. Copeland, A. C. Sowell, W. R. Rivers and Joel Bankston were elected as alderman. There were three candidates for mayor and fifteen candidates for alderman. Mr. Sutton, the mayor-elect, is regarded as one of the brightest men in Henry County. His friends are a legion, and it is predicted that he will give the people one of the administrations the town has ever had. The board of aldermen is composed of the best citizens and McDonough is well fixed for 1897.” File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/henry/newspapers/thecitye1657gnw.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/gafiles/ File size: 1.4 Kb
