GARRETT, age 70, of Hampton, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002. Mr. Garrett was born June 9, 1932, in Spring Hill, Ark., son of the late Ollie Marie Hall and Clarence Cleveland Garrett. He was a member of Hampton United Methodist Church for 40 years, had retired from F.A.A. as an air traffic controller, served as a Henry County Commissioner from 1985 through 1988, a member of the Gideons, Scottish Rite, Hampton Fraternal Lodge 70, F.&A.M., Yaarab Shrine Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. of Atlanta, Hampton chapter of Eastern Star 522, and had served as a board of director for the Hampton Housing Authority, organized the AA group at the Hampton United Methodist Church, avid fisherman and hunter, and loving granddaddy. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, Jan. 2 at Hampton United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Alexander and the Rev. Charlie Green officiating. Mrs. Gilmore graduated from LaGrange College in 1940, was a charter member of the Henry General Hospital Auxiliary, and a faithful member of the McDonough United Methodist Church, the Cancer society, and the Daughters of the Confederacy. Ashley Harvey "Buck" GRIFFIN, 96, of Roswell, formerly of Locust Grove, died Jan. 4, 2003. He was born Aug. 17, 1906, in Omega, Ga., the son of the late Annie Kelly and William Ashley Griffin. He was an ordained minister with the Church of God of Cleveland, Tenn., and he served as pastor to several congregations in Georgia before his retirement. Griffin was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Donnis Brock Griffin in 1996, and a son, Reuel Griffin, in 1973. He was a truck driver and maintenance technician at Genco Industry. His sister, Ellen Hauck, preceded him in death. January 29, 2003 Stephen (Steve) Edward FRYE, 55, of Jonesboro, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital. Born Aug. 18, 1947, in Moore County, he was a son of the late William L. Frye. Mr. Frye was a Supervisor for Dangar Enterprise, a member of the Jonesboro Kiwanis Club, Jonesboro United Methodist Church, and HE WAS A U.S. ARMY VIETNAM VETERAN. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30 at Vass United Methodist Church, with the Rev. James Mintzer officiating. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1 at Jonesboro Cemetery in Jonesboro.
