WEED, 80, of Fayetteville, died Friday, Feb. 28, 2003. Weed was born in Hall County, Ga., and in her earlier years was a traveling evangelist. More recently, she was a member of Still Waters Church in Fayetteville. He was born Oct. 21, 1934, in Seco, Ky., the son of the late Lalah Molly Livingston and Raymond Epgar Frazier. He retired in 1990 from General Motors Lakewood Assembly Plant with 20-plus years of service. Frazier was a member of Train Collectors Association, an avid collector of model trains, especially American Flyer, and his most recent passion for collecting was Ted Williams fishing reels. Ward - Fairview Chapel is in charge of arrangements. (770) 474-1231. March 08, 2003 Edward H.L. WERNER Sr. of Stockbridge passed away Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003. Mr. Werner was born in Pendleton, S.C. Nov. 27, 1911. He was the oldest of 10 children born to O.P. (Pop) and Mattie Howard Werner. During his days in South Carolina, known by the nickname "Spratts," he played semi-pro baseball and worked in area cotton mills. During World War II he worked on the Seaboard Railroad as a brakeman, and learned the carpentry trade by working on the Fontana Dam Project. In 1949, he moved his family to Atlanta and began working in construction, and became a general contractor. In 1962, he became a building inspector for DeKalb County, and retired in 1974, as the Chief Building Inspector and Fire Marshal. After retirement he worked for Jim Ellis Volkswagen, and as a lay minister conducted numerous revivals around the country, and participated in several Southern Baptist Layman Crusades. He was married Dec. 15, 1935, to the late Jewel Cox Werner, with whom he had five children. Following her death in 1972, he married the late Aline Durden Werner, who passed away in 1999. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1 at Salem Baptist Church, 1724 Decatur Road (Hwy. 155), McDonough, Ga. 30252. Interment followed at East View Cemetery in Honea Path, S.C. on Sunday, March 2. Survivors include his children, Harry L. Werner (spouse, Marilyn) of McDonough, M. Lloyd Werner of Atlanta, Alan L. Ronnie MANESS of Stockbridge died suddenly of a heart attack on Monday, March 10, 2003. Ronnie was a gentle, kind, and loving person, slow to anger, and eternally forgiving of others. He was a talented cabinet maker whose pleasures came from the simple things of life such as gardening and fishing, but his true happiness was just being with his family. Hugh Walker PHILLIPS, 87, former president of Fulton Federal Savings and Loan Association, died on Sunday, March 16, 2003. Mr. Phillips began his 30-year career with Fulton Federal in 1952 as an appraiser and inspector, and soon became manager of offices in East Point and Buckhead. Elected executive vice president in 1971, Phillips was made president and chief operating officer in 1978. Earlier he had experience as a home builder and as an executive with Swift and Company. A native and long-time resident of McDonough, Phillips served as a director of the First National Bank of McDonough for 20 years. He was a graduate of the Indiana University graduate school of savings and loan and served on various committees of the Georgia and United States savings and loan trade organizations. He was a member and elder of the Peachtree Presbyterian Church, the Atlanta Kiwanis Club, Buckhead 50 Club, of which he was a past president, and the Cherokee Town and Country Club.
