Hooten was born Oct. 17, 1927, in Covington, to the late Bud Hooten and the late Missouri Austin Hooten. HE SERVED HIS COUNTRY IN THE U.S. ARMY and was retired from the Atlanta Army Depot. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 55 of McDonough. He traveled the Southeast United States selling industrial weighing equipment. He was a very loving father and husband. Tompkins was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph Conner, Talmedge Conner and Leon Conner. She was a member of the DeVotie Baptist Church in Griffin. Tompkins was retired from Fort Gillem. After her retirement she worked with Waffle House for 16 years.
