Mr. Justin D. Holmes WITTMANN, age 23, of Steele Drive, Hampton passed away Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, from injuries he received in an automobile accident.
Justin was born in Tucker, Ga. May 16, 1980.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1 in the chapel of the Conner-Westbury Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gene Luke officiating. Interment followed in the Sherwood Memorial Gardens.

Jo Ann W. SIMS, age 69, of McDonough, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003.
Born April 27, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Charlie A. and Grace Barnette Wilkerson. Mrs. Sims was a member of the Sharon Baptist Church, where she served as the Church Clerk and a Sunday School Teacher. She was also a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, Dec. 3 at Sharon Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gary Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Survivors include her loving husband of 46 years, Charles; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Tommy Woodall; son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Carla Sims; sister, Mittie Lou Owenby of Covington; grandchildren, Bobby and Libby Woodall and Chad and Will Sims. Mrs. Shirley Faye BOWERS, age 66, of Hanover Drive, Griffin passed away Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at the Spalding Regional Medical Center. 
Mrs. Bowers was born in Spalding County March 28, 1937, to the late James A. Gregory and the late Ida Jane Cooper Gregory. Her brother, Dwayne Gregory, preceded her in death. She was a homemaker, a member of the Second Baptist Church, and a member of the Seekers Sunday School Class.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. today, Saturday, Dec. 6 at the First Assembly of God, with the Rev. Kenneth Heath, the Rev. Mark Coffey and the Rev. Brandon Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith was born March 20, 1937, in Hawkinsville, Ga., daughter of the late Annie Mae Kitchens and Duncan Lewis Jennings. She had been a very active member of Oakland Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir, and was working part time for Henry County State Court.

Mr. Garfield ARNOLD, age 82, of McDonough died Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at Henry Medical Center.
Mr. Arnold was born Oct. 13, 1921, in Homer, son of the late Lula Smith and Garfield Jackson Arnold. HE SERVED HIS COUNTRY IN THE U.S. ARMY DURING WORLD WAR II IN THE 94th INFANTRY. Mr. Arnold retired from the Henry County Board of Education Maintenance Department in 1991.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park.

Ms. Johnson was retired from Dundy Mills after 37 years of service. She worked as an inspector for the textile division. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Lovejoy. Ms. Johnson lived in Jonesboro and Hampton most of her life.

 Oveda TAYLOR, 75, of Blountstown, Fla., died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at the Christian Ministries Hospice.
Taylor was born in Altha, Fla., on Sept. 9, 1928, to the late James Roy Willis Sr. and Fosteen Spivey Willis, and was the wife of the late Ernest E. Taylor Sr. She was a retired nurse and member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Ed and Diane Taylor of Hampton; grandchildren and their spouses, Shelley and John Sweatte of Fairmont, Kim and Chris Page of Hampton; great-grandchildren, Paul Sweatte, Charley Sweatte, Libby Page, Ethan Page; sisters and brothers-in-law, Juanita and Vernon Powel, Lawanda and Buddy Ross, Shirley and David Howell; brother, James Roy Willis, all of Florida; many nieces and nephews.

She was born in Millinocket, Maine Feb. 24, 1945, daughter of Russell and Lena Legasse Guy. 
She was predeceased by her parents and two husbands, Richard (Dick) A. Tapley and Richard Reese, and a brother, Frank Russell Guy III.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17 from Horis A. Ward Funeral Home, Fairview Chapel, Stockbridge. A burial service will be held at the Millinocket Cemetery in Maine in early spring.
Survivors include her sons, Jamie Tapley of Lewiston, Maine, Kevin Tapley of McDonough, Ga. and Brian Tapley of Stockbridge, Ga.; daughter, Kristi White of Monticello, Ga.; grandchildren, Justin White and Amber Thomas of Monticello and Jude Tapley of Millinocket; sisters, Theresa and Robert Ivey of South Paris, Maine, Mary and Daniel Coyne of Millinocket and Bonnie and John Biludeau of Virginia Beach, Va.; several nieces, nephews and cousins as well as numerous friends.

Mrs. Minnie VASSER, age 78, of Stockbridge, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003. 
Mrs. Vasser was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, William Frank Vasser Sr., and daughter, Betty Ann Johnson. She was retired from J.C. Penney.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17 from the chapel of Cannon-Cleveland Funeral Directors, with the Rev. Johnny Newell officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Baptist Cemetery in Jonesboro.

Eugene SMITH of Stockbridge died Dec. 19, 2003. Smith was the son of the late General Lee and Mary Essie Singleton Smith. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Stockbridge. Smith and his wife Miriam were married 44 years. His family was very important to him.
Survivors include his wife Miriam; children, Winford (Debra) Smith of Stockbridge, LaVonne Smith of Jackson, Lamar (Jenny) Smith of Fayetteville; brothers and sisters, Violet Brown of McDonough, Walter Smith, Dillard Smith, both of Stockbridge, Carl Smith, Pauline Hill, Janie Nell Vincent, Evelyn Little, all of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Nickolus Wells, Dustin Wells, Adam Smith, Kristie Smith and Kyle Massengale; one great-granddaughter; 36 nieces and nephews. Smith was predeceased by his brothers, Justice Smith, Fred Smith, Frank Smith and James Smith.

Charles CLAXTON, 78, of McDonough, died Dec. 21, 2003 at Henry Medical Center. He was born Oct. 15, 1925 in Kite, Ga.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003 at Horis A. Ward's Fairview Chapel. The Rev. Bob Hooks will officiate. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Claxton was a member of Nelms Masonic Lodge. He was a self-employed construction worker.

Mrs. Mary B. RAPE, age 91, of McDonough, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003.
Mrs. Rape was a member of the First Baptist Church of McDonough and was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Ralph Rape.

Thomas ANDREWS Jr. "T-Bone," age 54, of Milner, passed away Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at his residence.
Mr. Andrews was born Oct. 11, 1949. He was self-employed and of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Andrews Sr.

 Dovie Mathis TRAER, of 3687 McIntosh Road, Graceville, Fla., passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, in Graceville, Fla.
Mrs. Traer was born Oct. 15, 1919, in Houston County, Ala., in the Wicksburg Community to the late William Nathan and Annie Elizabeth Mathis. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, her parents, eight brothers and several nieces and nephews. 
Surviving Mrs. Traer are her sister, Mrs. Cleoia M. Williams of Bonifay; her half-sisters, Voncile Vinson of Malvern, Ala., Kathleen Deadwyler of Dothan, Hilda Hershey of Wapa Komepa, Ohio, and Shirley Willis of Fayetteville, N.C.; and a stepsister, Johnnie Ray of Midland City, Ala.
Mrs. Traer married George P. Traer in 1946 and moved to McDonough, Ga., where she lived the next 57 years. She was an active member of the McDonough Presbyterian Church. She served two terms as Active Deacon, 17 years as hostess, chaired every phase of women's work, and taught a Sunday school class for several years. She was employed by the Henry County Sheriff's Department as a Superior Court bailiff for 36 years. Declining health caused her to move to Graceville to be near to her family. She has made her home with her niece, Sarah W. Lovell, in recent years.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at Bethel Baptist Church, 1349 Highway 173, Graceville, with Pastor Kent Lampp officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Graceville, Fla.

Mr. Gregory Scott CLACK, age 43, of Hampton died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003.
Greg graduated from North Clayton High School at the age of 16 and worked for his father for the next 27 years. He helped manage Riverdale Wrecker Service, Midway Plaza, Mini Warehouses, and T Bird Hangers. He was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed racing his motorcycle at Daytona and Talladega. He loved painting antique airplanes and cars he and his father restored. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sara Nell Clack. 
Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28 at Tara Garden Chapel with Pastor Tyson Roasch officiating. Interment will follow at Haynes Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie Clack; son, Jason Clack; daughters, Brittany Clack and Courtney Clack; brother, James Dean Clack; father and stepmother, James F. and Jeanette Clack; grandchildren, T.J. Lewis and Ashlynn Bunn.

Reginald (R.C.) DAVENPORT, age 73 of Stockbridge died Dec. 28, 2003. 
He was retired from Lockheed after 42 years of service and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara.
Graveside Services will be held today, Wednesday, Dec. 31 at 11 a.m. at Roseland Cemetery in East Point with the Rev. Doyle Conley officiating.

STONE
Julianna (Judy) Moore Stone, age 68, of McDonough died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, from Alzheimer's disease.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Judy was devoted to her family. She graduated from Decatur High and then started her career as an Army wife. She made a home for her family after every new assignment, both in the U.S. and overseas. She later worked as the manager of a doctor's office. She was a long-time member of Heritage Hills Baptist Church. 
The family is grateful to her caregiver, Ann Carter, for the care and affection she has shown Judy.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2 at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home, Rockdale Chapel, 1999 Highway 138, Conyers. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge with Pastor Emeritus Joe Hughes officiating.
Survivors include her husband of almost 50 years, Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Leon Haynes Stone; children, Debbie and husband Ed Armitage, David and wife Betsy Stone, and Susan and husband Tom Pogue; grandchildren, Julie Armitage, Adam Armitage, Rebecca Pogue and Haynes Stone. She is preceded in death by her grandson, Drew Pogue. Other survivors include her sister, Harriett Foster and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
