She was the daughter of Howard and Jeanette Smallwood. She had been employed for 20-plus years with JC Penney, attended the First Baptist Church of Stockbridge, worked as a volunteer with the American Cancer Society and the March of Dimes. But most important in life to her was her family. She was a loving wife and mother. Survivors include her husband Billy; children Jessica and Daniel; mother Jeanette Smallwood; sisters Helen Suete, Peggy Ridings, Wanda Katz, Joanna Tanner, Lisa Jarrett; brothers Michael Smallwood, Ronnie Binon and Freddie Smallwood. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, in the chapel of Cannon-Cleveland Funeral Directors. Interment will be in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. BONNER, AGNES M. Mrs. Agnes M. Bonner, age 75, of Stockbridge, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004. Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4 from Ward's Fairview Chapel, with the Rev. Eddie Roland officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Gardens. Survivors include her daughter, Karen L. Bonner of Stockbridge; sons, Kris W. Bonner of Reidsville, N.C. and Keith S. February 2, 2004 BROWN, MARY TURNER Mrs. Mary Turner Brown of Lake City died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004. Mrs. Brown was a member of Jones Memorial UMC, the Forest Park Eastern Star, where she served as Past Matron in 1977 and 1978, and a charter member and past president (1970 and 1985) of the Ladies Auxiliary of Taraettes Shrine Club. She retired from Fort Gillem after more than 25 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Emma Frances Turner, her husband, Robert Newton Brown Jr., and son, Robert Newton Brown III. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Combs was born in Henry County Feb. 13, 1926, to the late John Wayne Floyd and the late Jessie Floyd. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter O'Dell Combs. KINCAID, CLARENCE J. (BILL) Clarence J. (Bill) Kincaid, age 77, of Stockbridge, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004. A native of Hancock County, Kentucky, Mr. Kincaid was a beloved horseman and a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a retired truck driver. A memorial service will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13 at Golden Corral Restaurant in Stockbridge. The remains were taken to Tell City, Indiana for interment. February 7, 2004 HIPP, DORIS ANN Doris Ann Hipp, age 85, of Stockbridge, died Feb. 7, 2004. She and her late husband Lloyd Hipp were the former owners of Stockbridge Paving Company. Mrs. Hipp was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stockbridge, the Senior Adult Choir, and the Young at Heart Senior Club. WAITS, AUDREY BLANCHE RAMSAUR Mrs. Audrey Blanche Ramsaur Waits of Hampton died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at Southwest Christian Hospice. Born in Fulton County, she was the daughter of the late Blanche Wallace and Aubrey Craven Ramsaur. Mrs. Waits was a member of Berea Christian Church, a devoted homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. He was a member of Turner United Methodist Church, served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam,was a member of the Griffin VFW Post 5448, 20 years in the ARBA and the Georgia Horse Council. She was born April 29, 1933, in Adairsville, Ga., daughter of Mary Odell Gibson and Henry Grady Reese. Mrs. Pearson was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Locust Grove First Baptist Church, a leader of the Jolly Elders, and worked as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Born in Richmond, Va., Mr. Galloway retired after 13 years as a bridge tender for Volusia County, Fla., then moved to Locust Grove. Mr. Little was born September 21, 1939 in Henry County to the late Alba Little and the late Evelyn Cower Little. Mr. Little was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Little. Mr. Little was retired from Delta Air Lines. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard and a member of Eagles Way church in Griffin. Survivors include his wife, Donna G. A native of LaGrange, Ga., Mr. Eady was retired from Kerns Furniture. He was the owner of Rainbow Florist in Conyers, worked for Wilson Welding and Stacey's Auto Parts. Mr. Eady was a member of Conyers Presbyterian Church. He also attended St. Joseph's Episcopal Church and The Ole Country Church in McDonough and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was preceded in death by his son Robert Eady and brother Jesse Eady, sister, Helen Mounter. Mrs. Phillips was born Jan. 29, 1929, in Clayton County and was the daughter of the late Nancy Creel and Horrice Wiley Simpson. February 15, 2004 PERKINS, PHILLIP LAMAR Mr. Phillip Lamar Perkins, 43, of Creek Wood Drive, Gainesville, Ga., passed away Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at the Lanier Park Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Perkins was born in Muscogee County, Ga., but had lived in Hall County for a number of years. He worked as a self-employed contractor, and was the president of the Lanier Soccer Association and a council member at the South Hall Middle School. Mr. Perkins was a member of Blackshear Place Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Blackshear Place Baptist Church with the Rev. James Mills officiating. February 23, 2004 BLANTON, DWIGHT "J.D." Dwight Blanton "J.D." of East Point died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, two days after his 82nd birthday. During World War II he served in the Navy on the USS Hollis. In 1947 he was Georgia's Golden Gloves Boxing Champion. Outside of his love for the Lord and his family, Dwight's greatest devotion was to the Atlanta Fire Department, where he served as firefighter for more than 30 years. Even after his retirement in 1979, Dwight remained involved with the A.F.D., a member of the Annual Fire Fighters Memorial Committee. In 1998 he was awarded the rank of Honorary Battalion Chief. Blanton's warm smile and love of people caused him to be known as "one who never met a stranger." The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28 at Bible Baptist Church in Hampton where Dwight has been a faithful member for more than 25 years. Remains will be placed in state at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in College Park. He is survived by his loving wife, Louise. They were married on the CBS Bride and Groom Show on March 27, 1952. February 24, 2004 CHANDLER, JAMES G. (CHAIN HOSS) James G. Chandler (Chain Hoss), 83, of Riverdale, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, at a local hospital. Mr. Chandler retired from the Ford Motor Company Hapeville Assembly Plant with 31 years of service. He was a member of the U.A.W. She was born in Atlanta Jan. 7, 1919. Mrs. Cook was a devoted wife, mother and woman of many talents. She was a devoted member of Salem Baptist Church for more than 40 years. February 29, 2004 POWELL, JUDY PARKER Judy Parker Powell, 59, formerly of McDonough, died Feb. 29, 2004, at her home in Brevard, N.C. She was born Jan. 17, 1945, in Dayton, Ohio to the late Robert Miller Parker and Mary Ellen Flatt Parker. Immediately prior to her recent illness, she taught General Science at the Henry County High School in McDonough. From 1998 to 2003, she was 4-H agent for Clayton County. A memorial service will take place at the Jonesboro First United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 6. Survivors include one daughter, Julia Gervasio and her husband, Marc, of McDonough; two grandchildren, Jonathan and Benjamin Gervasio; and her husband, the Rev. Dr. James Lee Powell.
