October 7, 2004 STROUP, FRANCES LUCILLE Mrs. Frances Lucille Stroup, 77, of Union City, formerly of McDonough, passed away Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004. Stroup was born Nov. 2, 1926, in Montgomery, Ala., to the late Frank Hill and the late Mary Lee Saga Hill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles P. Stroup, in 2003. She was a homemaker and member of Eastside Baptist Church in McDonough. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth and Bobby Styron of Jonesboro; sons Walter S. Meads III of Snellville and James Mark Meads of Atlanta; grandchildren Randall Styron, Nicole Woodall, Ryan Styron, Whitney Meads, Blake Meads and Leslie Ann Bagby; great- grandchildren Hannah and Amanda Styron and James Carl Woodall II; sister Eleanor Cleghorn; brother William Tudor, both of Montgomery, Ala. BECK, WALTER C. Walter C. Beck, 80, of 515 Wilderness Drive, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004. Funeral services will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10 at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street, Macon, Ga. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park. The Rev. Dan Wilson will officiate. The family will greet friends from 2 p.m. until service time on Sunday at the funeral home. Born in Gordon, Ga., he was the son of the late Otis W. and Beulah Lord Beck. Mr. Beck attended schools in Wilkinson and Baldwin Counties. He received a two-year degree diploma from I.C.S. Mr. Beck was a World War II veteran, having served in the Navy. He participated in D-Day at Normandy and was an Atomic Survivor, having participated in Operation Crossroads at Bikini. Mr. Beck was a member of the American Legion, Joseph N. Neel Jr., Post 3, and the American Defense Preparedness Association. He was chairman of the Electronics Technology Advisory Committee at Macon Technical Institute and a past member of the Board of Directors Easter Seal Vocational Development Center in Dublin. Mr. Beck served in various capacities with the Boy Scouts of America, having served as assistant Scoutmaster and past advisor. Mr. Beck was a life member of Sertoma International, a member of Cherokee Heights United Methodist Church, and former president of the Winnie Mae Hill Sunday School Class. He was a former employee of the United States Naval Ordnance Plant, and retired from Allen Bradley Company. Mr. Beck is survived by his daughter, Pamela Preston Bone of McDonough; two grandsons; brothers and sisters, Mrs. Jim B. (Sarah) Hardy of Macon, Mrs. Jim W. (Gladys) Simpson of Atlantic Beach, N.C., and W. Leo Beck of Pomona, Calif. BALLOU, CLARICE MAXWELL Mrs. Clarice Maxwell Ballou, 93, of Locust Grove, Ga. died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at Benton House of Stockbridge. He was born Sept. 29, 1911, in Hart County, Ga., daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth Tulie and Jackson Oliver Maxwell. Her husband, W. T. Ballou, son, Jack Butler, and grandsons, Rodney Butler and Jackie Butler, preceded Mrs. Ballou in death. Survivors are children, Dennis and Phyllis Butler of Locust Grove, and Marsha and Dennis Manning of Jonesboro; brothers, O.B. Maxwell of Lilburn and Chandler Maxwell of Fayetteville; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. October 8, 2004 MARUCCI, LEWIS ANTHONY, SR. Lewis Anthony Marucci Sr. of Rex, 92, died Oct. 8, 2004, at his residence. Graveside services will be Monday, Oct. 11, 2004, at noon. October 9, 2004 McDANIEL, LAWRENCE PATRICK Lawrence Patrick McDaniel, 39, of McDonough, suffered a severe heart attack on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, and passed away at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. The funeral service will be held Wednesday at Salem Baptist Church in McDonough at 2 p.m. with Pastor Rick Statham officiating. McDaniel was a member of Salem Baptist Church and owner of Mac-Tel Communications Co. He will be remembered as a very loving and caring husband and father.
