He was preceded in death by a sister, Katie Leigh Farmer, on June 15 of this year. Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of Harry L. White Funeral Home beginning at 2 p.m. today, Saturday, Dec. 4 with the Revs. Mike Farmer, Robert Scarborough and Bobby Westbrooks officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Conyers. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time today. Survivors include his father and stepmother, Steven and JoAnn Farmer of Conyers, and mother, Pam Farmer of Locust Grove; paternal grandparents, Darrel and Carolyn Farmer; maternal grandparent, Birdie Holsomback; and maternal great-grandmother, Carrie Holsomback. Taylor was born in Newton County, Ga. He was appointed an honorary Conyers policeman in 2003. He was a straight-A student in school and was on the Principal's List. He also was an artist. He was a great son who will be missed very much. SANDERS, HARVEY E. JR. Mr. Harvey E. Sanders Jr. lost his 10-year battle with Multiple Myeloma Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at his home in Stockbridge. He was born July 21, 1930, to Harvey Eugene Sanders Sr. and Willie Mae Walden Sanders in Stockbridge, Ga. Harvey was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, the Sears Atlanta Retiree Club, and enjoyed camping with the Good Sam Lucky 13 Camping Club. He served with the U.S. 3rd Army Infantry in Berlin, Germany from 1951 to 1953. He graduated from McDonough High School in 1947, and went to work for Steel Heddle Mfg., where he worked for 18 years. He then went to work for Sears Roebuck & Co. and retired from Sears with 25 years of service. Funeral services begin at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4 at Ward's Fairview Chapel with the Rev. Bob Brown officiating. Interment follows at Fairview Memorial Gardens. HOCKENSMITH, GARNETT Garnett Hockensmith, 79, of McDonough, Ga. died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004. He was born in Louisville, Ky., son of the late Luther and Leona Hockensmith. Mr. Hockensmith was retired from Ford Motor Company, a Navy Veteran of World War II, a member of the Masonic Lodge 940 Grand Lodge of Kentucky for more than 50 years, and a member of the McDonough Church of Christ. December 2, 2004 DOYAL, RONALD Heaven received another worshipper, Thursday night, Dec. 2, 2004, when Ronald Doyal joined his son Ken around the throne. He was the beloved husband of Joan Bartlett Doyal. He was the loving father of his three surviving children. Sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Kathy Doyal of Hampton and the Rev. December 3, 2004 BIZZELL, IRA JR. Ira Bizzell Jr., 78, of Forest Park passed away Friday, Dec. 3, 2004. Mr. Bizzell was retired from Sunkist citrus company after 35 years of service. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army 503rd paratroopers, where he served during World War II in the Pacific theater. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Bizzell of Forest Park; son and his wife Ira and Sandra Bizzell III of Tyrone; daughter and her husband, Lea and Tim Adamson of McDonough; brothers, Lee Caldwell Bizzell of Cleveland, Miss., and Frank M. December 4, 2004 DEAN, RICHARD MICHAEL Richard Michael Dean, age 59, of McDonough, died Dec. 4, 2004. He was born in Ann Arbor, Mich., to Richard Merrill and Edna Mae Dean. Mr. Dean was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was never judgemental and always full of life, filling the room with laughter and leaving smiles on every face. He enjoyed great relationships with family, friends and co-workers. Mr. Dean was attending Horizon Pointe church when able and was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam conflict. She was born in Barnesville, Ga., to the late Annie Charping (Garner) and Samuel Coleman Charping and was a member of the Stockbridge United Methodist Church. She is survived by her son, Frank C. Jacqueline (Jackie) R. Avrett, 55, of McDonough, Ga., died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004. Mrs. Avrett was born May 2, 1949, in Atlanta. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family was her life; she enjoyed nothing better than spending time with them and spoiling her grandchildren. When possible to get away she enjoyed the beach and her mountain home. Jackie was preceded in death by her mother Eloise Eady Fannin. December 6, 2004 NEIGHBOR, ROBERT "BOB" LEE Mr. Robert "Bob" Lee Neighbor, 71, of Hampton passed away Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at the Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta. Mr. Neighbor was born Feb. 2, 1933, in Unionville, Mo., son of the late Brant Neighbor and the late Ida Mae Noland Neighbor. He retired from Owens Corning in 1990 after 37 years of service as Executive Manager. He was a member of McDonough Road Baptist Church. He was previously a member of Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church in Englewood, Colo., where he was a Deacon and in many Bible Study Groups. He was a member of the Promise Keepers and chaired many committees in the church. He was also a member of the Koinanea Bible Study Group. He loved to fish and was an avid outdoorsman. He was a loving family man. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Mrs. Morris was born Oct. 11, 1912, in Henry County, daughter of the late Trudy Crowell and Luther Upchurch. Her husband, James Felton Morris, preceded her in death on Sept. 25, 1984. December 8, 2004 HAMILTON, BETTY PRITCHARD Mrs. Betty Pritchard Hamilton, 73, of Locust Grove, Ga. died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at Henry Medical Center. Mrs. Hamilton was born March 25, 1931, in Detroit, Mich., daughter of the late Jane Maxwell and Benjamin Pritchard. She was known to her loving family as Betty and Nana. December 9, 2004 ROLAND, EDGAR EUGENE, REV. The Rev. Edgar Eugene Roland, 65, of McDonough, Ga. passed away Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at the Henry Medical Center. Eddie was born Feb. 18, 1939, in Union Point, Ga. to the late Sidney Lanier Roland Sr. and the late Susie Mae Moody Roland. He was a 1957 graduate of Union Point High School, graduated from Shorter College in Rome, Ga., and Southwestern Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. The Rev. Roland was Pastor of Towaliga Baptist Church in Jackson, Ga. He was Minister of Music at First Baptist Church of Stockbridge for more than 14 years, and was Pastor for seven years. He loved preaching, singing, spending time with his family, and was a true people person. He was also an avid follower of sports history and an avid gardener. December 15, 2004 McCLURE, WILLIS HARMON Mr. Willis Harmon McClure, 95, formerly of Halls Bridge Road, the Stark Community of Butts County, died Wednesday morning, Dec. 15, 2004, at the Westbury Medical Care Home where he had resided for several years. A life-long resident of Butts County, he was born April 20, 1909, son of the late Hope and Laura Harmon McClure. Mr. McClure was employed by the Snapper Power Equipment Company in McDonough for over 30 years before his retirement. He was a dedicated member of the Macedonia Baptist Church, where he had served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher and Chairman of the cemetery committee. FRENCH, DALE D. Dale D. French, 70, of Jackson, passed away Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, at Portsbridge Hospice. Mr. French was born March 15, 1934, in Anoka County, Minn., to the late James Albert French. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a retired truck driver. He loved camping, fishing and tinkering with cars. December 20, 2004 PHILLIPS, JERRY O. Jerry O. Phillips, 58, of Atlanta, Ga., died Dec. 20, 2004. Jerry was a native of McDonough, son of the late Frank Smith Phillips and Martha Ruth Brannan Phillips. He retired from Delta after 31-plus years as a mechanical engineer and was a member of the Glenwood Hills Masonic Lodge # 703. The daughter of the late Marvin Thomas and Myrtie Irene Hulsey Kilgore, she was born Aug. 8, 1923, in Braselton. Mrs. Hendricks was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Andrew Hendricks, Sr. who was the founder of Archie's Sporting Goods in Stockbridge. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister who dedicated her entire life to her family. Coylene was born Nov. 15, 1940, in DeKalb County, daughter of the late Margaret Louise Hubbard and William Clifton Randolph. She was an active member of the Locust Grove United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and played the organ for more than 30 years. She graduated from Sylvan High School, Class of '56, and received an Associates Degree from Young Harris College. She retired as an auditor from the State Labor Department. Coylene was a member of the Henry Arts Alliance, she enjoyed music, art, poetry, cooking, chocolate, and eating lunch out with friends. A longtime resident of Jonesboro, Ga., Mrs. Fincher was married for more than 48 years to her beloved husband, William Thomas Fincher, who preceded her in death in 1996.
