Mr. Moore was born Sept. 29, 1930, in Soperton, Ga. to the late William Steely Moore and the late Lillie Mae Willis Moore. He served his country in the U.S. Army, was retired after 30 years with General Motors, and was an avid member of Masonic Lodge 702. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Janice M. Moore; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Ricardo Rodriguez of McDonough; grandson, Sebastian Rodriguez; sister, Bernice Hutchenson of Soperton. Interment will follow at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park. BELLAMY, OTIS Mr. Otis Bellamy of Ellenwood, Ga. passed away Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005. He was a native of Banks County, a member of Liberty Baptist Church, and a member of the Masonic Lodge of Ellenwood. He was a veteran of World War II, where he bravely served his country aboard the USS Melvin during heavy combat in the South Pacific. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be greatly missed. Born March 11, 1923, in Homer, Ga., he was the eldest son of Groze Marion Bellamy and Alma Belle Strange Bellamy. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 44 years, Margaret. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Terry Holland of Fayetteville, Ga., Angela and Scotty Fletcher of Fayetteville, Velinda and David Warda of Smyrna, Ga., and Tina and John Elliott of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Russ Holland, Brittany Fletcher, Wade Holland, Brian Fletcher, Brooke Fletcher, Garrison Elliott, and Brenna Elliott, all of Fayetteville. He is also survived by a brother, Clifford Bellamy of Ellenwood, and sisters Geneva McElheney of Monticello and Bonnie Howard, Ph.D. of Athens; several nieces and nephews. After his family, he was most proud of his business and philanthropic accomplishments. Along with his brother Cliff, he started Bellamy Brothers, Inc. in 1954, where he was active until his death. They left their mark on the bridges and highways in several Southern states. The marvels produced by the company include the bridge over the Alabama River, the Sidney Lanier Bridge in Brunswick, and the Interstate 75/85 connector in downtown Atlanta, to name a few. He was also involved in Bellamy-Strickland Chevrolet, GMC and Pontiac, as well as numerous other businesses. Due to his entrepreneurial spirit and the belief that there was no greater reward than being in business for yourself, he mentored countless people. One of his greatest contributions to Henry County was the work he did to establish Henry Medical Center in Stockbridge. His foresight and "can do" attitude made a hospital in then rural Henry County a reality. He was an eternal optimist who was forever young. Even during his lengthy illness he remained lighthearted, kind, thoughtful and mischievous, with a smile on his face. February 2, 2005 WILKERSON, IDUS MILAM (BUDDY) Mr. Idus Milam (Buddy) Wilkerson, 79, of Hampton passed away Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at the Spalding Regional Medical Center. Mr. Wilkerson was born Dec. 9, 1925, in Henry County to the late G. Thomas Wilkerson and the late Alma Milam Wilkerson. Mr. Wilkerson was retired from Delta Air Lines. Mr. Wilkerson was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II. Mr. Wilkerson was a member of the Hampton Masonic Lodge 70 for 50 years. Mr. Wilkerson was a member of Berea Christian Church in Hampton. Mr. Wilkerson is survived by his wife, Janie Wilkerson; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Jimmy Floyd of Stockbridge; grandson and spouse, James E. and Jennifer Williams of Stockbridge; great-grandsons, Samuel Williams and Benjamin Williams; brother and spouse, Ralph and Wanda Wilkerson of Hampton; sister, Gladys Martin of McDonough; sister-in-law, Ruth Wilkerson of McDonough; several nieces and nephews. Interment will follow at the Berea Cemetery. CALLAWAY, INA ELLIVE Ina Ellive Callaway of Forest Park, Ga. passed away Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005. She is preceded in death by her husband, James W. Callaway. Survivors include her children, Mrs. Janie (Robert) Johnston, Mrs. Louise (Jim) Weaver, and Mr. Roy (Marilyn) Callaway; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Interment will follow in Marietta National Cemetery. February 4, 2005 STRICKLAND, STACYE MICHELLE DURMIRE Stacye Michelle Durmire Strickland, 36, of Locust Grove, Ga. died Friday, Feb. 4, 2005. Stacye was born June 9, 1968, in Cobb County, daughter of Gary Phillip Durmire and the late Angela Louise Ranti Durmire. She loved her family, friends and animals. Survivors are her sister and brother-in-law, Christa and Jeff Pittman of Locust Grove; niece, Kaitlyn Pittman and nephew, Cameron Pittman of Locust Grove; aunt and uncle, Teresa and O.E. RODRIQUEZ, ALFONSO SR. Alfonso Rodriguez Sr., age 90, of McDonough, died Feb. 4, 2005. He was born in Puerto Rico, son of the late Carmen Lebron Rodriguez and Jose Rodriguez. He served our country during WWII in the U.S. Army and was a member of St. James the Apostle Catholic Church. Mr. Earl I. Stokes, 80, of Griffin passed away Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at the Christian Ministries Hospice. Mr. Stokes was born July 4, 1924, in Fulton County, son of the late Doris and Frank Stokes. He was owner of State Loan for a number of years and rental property before retiring. He was a Shriner and a Mason. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Tennessee Walking Horse Association and the Spotted Saddle Horse Association. He was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by brothers, William Stokes, Ernest Stokes and Joseph Idus Stokes. COOK, HERMAN BENTON Mr. Herman Benton Cook, 76, of McDonough, GA. died Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at Henry Medical Center. Mr. Cook was born Jan. 1, 1929, in Sandersville, Ga., son of the late Sarah Margarett McMillan and Carrol Clayton Cook. He was a member of Timberridge Presbyterian Church, served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard, retired from Atlanta Gas Light with 37 years, graduated from Lumber City High School Class of '48, and he enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. Mr. Cook is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Pat Kuglar Cook of McDonough; children, Brenda and Wallace P. WILDER, JOHN WILLIAM "BUDDY" Mr. John William "Buddy" Wilder Sr., 78, of McDonough passed away Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, at Newton General Hospital. Mr. Wilder was born March 29, 1926, in Henry County, Ga. to the late Chester Lee Wilder and the late Lois Odell Wilkerson Wilder. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Verna Garner Wilder in 1991, and by sisters Sara Farmer, Nora Owens, and Mildred Mason. He raised cattle on his farm in McDonough for many years. Mr. Waddell was born Feb. 10, 1947, in Habersham County, Ga. to the late William Ellis Waddell and the late Hattie Mae Nicholson Waddell. Interment will follow at Camp Memorial Park. SIMS, CHARLES SAMUEL Charles Samuel Sims, 71, of Spalding County, Ga. passed away at his home Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005. Mr. Sims was born Jan. 15, 1934, in Butts County, son of the late Martha Dell Ridgeway Sims and James Edwin Sims. He was a 1950 graduate of Jackson High School and a veteran of World War II. Associated with Dan. J. Smith Distributors for 27 years, he retired in 1999. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Griffin, the American Quarter Horse Association, the American Cutting Horse Association, and the Griffin Elks Club. Those who knew him will remember his love of the land and animals, especially horses. He owned many Quarter Horses during the years and enjoyed training and working with them. He studied bloodlines and pedigrees and was most knowledgeable in this field, as friends and family can attest. During his last days, he would watch the horses graze from his hospital bed. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, June Kitchens Sims; daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and John S. Fields of McDonough; son, Charles Samuel Sims Jr. of Spalding County; his beloved granddaughter, Ellis Fields of McDonough; sister and brother-in-law, Angelyn and Frank C. She was born March 12, 1937, in Fulton County, daughter of the late Ella Ruth Belcher and Frank Albert. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, she enjoyed music, singing, playing the organ, and working with puzzles and games. Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her sisters, Ann Gresham and Lena Mae Albert. HAIST, CHARLES "CHUCKIE" RICHARD THOMAS Patrolman Charles "Chuckie" Richard Thomas Haist, 32, of McDonough, Ga. died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, in the line of duty as a patrolman with the Henry County Police Department. Mr. Haist was born April 9, 1972, in Fulton County, graduated from Morrow High School, Class of '91, was a member of Forest Park First Christian Church, served his country in the U.S. Air Force, loved his children and family, enjoyed fishing, golf, his motorcycle, and football. McCANN, EMMA CARPENTER Emma Carpenter McCann, 95, of Tree Brook Farm, Thornton, Pa. died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, in West Chester, Pa. She was the wife of the late Allen W. McCann, Jr. Mrs. McCann was born Sept. 18,1909, in Wethersfield, Conn., daughter of the late Harry B. and Martha Adams Carpenter. She lived in Thornton, Pa. for over 56 years. She was a former member of Dilworthtown Presbyterian Church. Mrs. McCann enjoyed weaving, sewing, and needlepoint. She also collected seashells and enjoyed spending time with her husband in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Survivors are her sons, Harry C. McCann (his wife Barbara) of Locust Grove, Ga. and Allen W. McCann 3rd (his wife Maureen) of Thornton; her grandchildren, Bill, Susan, Amy, Jeff, Steve, and Harry McCann, Michelle Bryant, Barby Amico and Chuck Thompson; her 17 great-grandchildren, who knew her as Geegee; brother-in-law, Newlin "Sunny" McCann of Landenberg, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews. February 19, 2005 HALL, SARA JANIE Mrs. Sara Janie Hall, age 84, of Hall Road, Hampton, passed away Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005. Mrs. Hall was born in Fayette County on Nov. 15, 1920 to the late J.D. Wilder and the late Leila Mae Shivers Wilder. Mrs. Hall and her husband, J.R. Hall, opened the Hall Grocery Store in Clayton County in the panhandle area in 1946, and in 1971 they opened the Hall's Flying Ranch in the panhandle area. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, J.R. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens. February 20, 2005 VROEGINDEWEY, EDNA MAY Mrs. Edna May Vroegindewey, 81, of McDonough passed away Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, at the Henry Medical Center. She was born Dec. 24, 1923, in Bergen County, N.J. to the late Walter Carlisle and the late Jennie Sisco Carlisle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Vroegindewey. She was a lifetime member of the VFW in New Jersey. MOORE, GORDON Gordon Moore, 67, of Lawrenceville passed away Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005. Mr. Moore was a native of Halls, Tenn. He obtained his B.S. and Masters Degree in Education from Memphis State University, and a Specialist degree in Education from the University of Georgia. He was a successful high school football coach, receiving recognition as "Coach of the Year" twice. Mr. Moore retired as Principal of Henry County High School, which was named "Georgia School of Excellence" in 1989, under his dedicated leadership. He served in the Air Force, and the Navy, and Air Force Reserves. He was a loving and protective husband, father, and grandfather, who always put his family first. He was a caring and generous friend to all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy Teresa Moore. Entombment follows in Eternal Hills Memory Gardens, Snellville. LONDON, ROBERT T. Robert T. London, age 52, of Jonesboro, died on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005. DUNCAN, FLOY JO Mrs. Floy Jo Duncan, 90, of Jonesboro passed away Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005. Mrs. Duncan was a retired retail sales manager and was the widow of Mabry Duncan, who was a farmer and rancher in Texas. Mrs. Duncan was a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro since 1977, and she was an active participant in her Sunday School class and the "Saints Alive" Senior Citizens program at First Baptist Church of Jonesboro. February 21, 2005 DANIELSON, LEROY E. Leroy E. Danielson, 82, of McDonough, Ga. died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at Sacred Journey Hospice. He was an avid sports fan and loved to work in his yard. He retired from the United States Army, serving during World War II and the Korean conflict. He was born in St. Helens, Ore. to Samuel and Demaris Danielson.
