Long Hospital. Sammy was born May 21, 1931, in Henry County to the late Earnest Alvin White Sr. and the late Vivian David Patton White. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie June McMillian White in 1996, and by a brother, E.A. White Jr. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, was a retired construction supervisor, and was a member of Timberridge Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his children, Douglas and Kathie White, of Covington, David White and Bruce and Maureen White, of McDonough, and Susan and David Lyng, of Bowling Green, Ky.; grandchildren, Michael White, Alan White, Alex Stewart, Rochelle Eaton, Mary Gina Colatosti, Kristin Huston and Jessica White; sister, Madelyn and J.H. McCullough, of Stockbridge; sister-in-law and dear friend, Hazel White, of McDonough; and nieces and nephews. Interment will follow at McDonough City Cemetery. FISHER, JAMES THOMAS Mr. James Thomas Fisher, 88, of Stockbridge, passed away peacefully April 1, 2005, at the Portsbridge Hospice in Conyers. The son of William Ambrose and Ella Womack Fisher, he was born on Dec. 28, 1916, in Rock Island, Tenn. He moved to Atlanta at the age of 10 and attended Boys High School and Georgia Tech. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II with the 58th Signal Corp in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 1, Atlanta, and the Stockbridge Presbyterian Church. During his business career, he served as secretary/treasurer of B and C Metal Stamping Company, Atlanta, and he retired in 1973 from Kearney International, Tucker. After his retirement, he was a builder in Henry County. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Grace Morris; and his wife, Mary Louise Bullock Fisher. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Jeannine and Ron Rickard, of McDonough, and Jamie and Tom Lavender, of Fayetteville; grandson, Ryan Rickard and his wife, Marci, of Woodstock; granddaughter, Jana Rickard, of Woodstock; great-granddaughter, Riley Rickard, of Woodstock; and brothers, Bill Fisher, of Bethlehem, and Ed Fisher, of Snellville. Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Decatur April 3, 2005 YARBROUGH, DEBBIE JOE Debbie Joe Galloway Yarbrough, 43, of McDonough, Ga. died Sunday, April 3, 2005, as the result of an automobile accident. Mrs. Yarbrough was born June 5, 1961, in Ducktown, Tenn., daughter of Betty Joyce and Cecil Wayne Yarbrough. She was a broker and insurance agent, she enjoyed horses, the beach and shopping. Mrs. Yarbrough graduated from Hapeville High School. Her daughter, Angelia Nicole Yarbrough, and sisters, Tammy and Robin Galloway, preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband, Ricky Yarbrough of McDonough; son, Ricky Shane Yarbrough of McDonough; mother, Joyce Galloway of Douglasville; father, Cecil Wayne Galloway of Blue Ridge, Ga.; brothers, Wayne Galloway of Douglasville and Gene Galloway of Loganville; nieces and nephews. CARMICHAEL, ANNIE OLA BRANAN Mrs. Annie Ola Branan Carmichael, age 82, of McDonough, died April 3, 2005. Mrs. Carmichael was born Aug. 16, 1922, in Henry County, the daughter of the late Lorene Elliott and Robert Dayton Branan. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church, graduated from McDonough High School Class of 1940, a devoted homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed singing, sewing, playing all instruments, dancing and cooking. Her loving husband of 54 years, Boyd Carmichael Jr., preceded her in death, and sons, Melvin Carmichael and Robert Carmichael. Survivors are her daughters and sons-in-law, Carol Ann and Chuck Hassler, of McDonough, Sherry and Tommy Floyd, of Locust Grove, Angie and Luis Rebuelta, of Jackson, Carmel and Bill Simpson, of McDonough, and Julie and Marc Fordham, of McDonough; daughters-in-law, Bennie Carmichael, of Jackson, and Debbie Carmichael, of Locust Grove; sister, Talitha Branan, of McDonough; 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Interment will be in the McDonough City Cemetery. DACUS, GRACE Mrs. Grace Dacus, age 74, of Locust Grove, passed away on April 3, 2005. Mrs. Dacus was the owner of Dacus Tire in Stockbridge. Mrs. Dacus is survived by her husband, Lester Dacus; sons, J.M. Ward, of Locust Grove, and Phillip Ward, of McDonough; daughters, Martha Ann Mann, of Braselton, Brandi Dacus, of Locust Grove, and Linda Varley, of Las Vegas; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Morgan, of Gainseville; and several nieces and nephews. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens. CALDWELL, LEROY "RED" Leroy "Red" Caldwell of Union City, formerly of Stockbridge, died April 3, 2005. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Willye Mae Caldwell; son, Mr. and Mrs. Gary L. April 6, 2005 ALBERTI, ANTONIO (TONY) Antonio (Tony) Alberti, 82, of Stockbridge, Ga. died Wednesday, April 6, 2005. He was born in Newark, N.J. to Alberto and Maria Lucadamo Alberti. He was a devoted, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He served our country with the United States Marines during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 306 and B.P.O. Elks. He was a general contractor by trade and built many homes, none more special than the one he created with his love for his family. April 7, 2005 BURDETTE, GENE WAYNE "BOOGIE" Mr. Gene Wayne "Boogie" Burdette, 61, passed to heaven April 7, 2005, at home surrounded by family and friends. Boogie was born on May 24, 1943, in Avondale, Ga. He was the son of the late Sybil Whitaker and G.W. Burdette. Boogie dedicated his life to serving Christ through the ministry of song. Boogie was a devoted husband, daddy, pawpaw, friend and servant of Christ. He is survived by his wife, Diane "Lady Di" Burdette; daughters, Mrs. Chrissie (Patrick) Northrop, and Mrs. Kimberly (Danny) Harper; son, Curtis (Pam) Redding; and 10 grandchildren. Entombment will be at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park in McDonough. THURMOND, RICHARD Mr. Richard Thurmond of Jonesboro passed away on April 5, 2005. He leaves behind a wife, Mrs. Gail Thurmond of Jonesboro, Ga.; three daughters, Ms. Cindy Thurmond of Jonesboro, Ms. April Thurmond of Jonesboro, and Mrs. Melinda Segars of Jonesboro; mother, Mrs. Martha Thurmond; three sisters, Mrs. Beverly Walling, Mrs. Kellly Bush, and Mrs. Mary Caylor; two brothers, Mr. John Thurmond and Mr. Pat Thurmond; and three grandchildren. April 10, 2005 GRANT, FRED DURWARD Fred Durward Grant, age 69, of McDonough, died Sunday, April 10, 2005. He was born December 15, 1935, in McDonough to Fred and Irene Elliott Grant. She was born in Pavo to Paul Jones and Mamie McQueen Sineath. She was a lady full of life and will be remembered for her sense of humor and her love for music and singing. She loved people, never meeting a stranger, and was a true friend to be cherished. She was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed reading and playing Bridge. Most important to her was family. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and her great-grandchildren held a very special place in her heart. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Moultrie April 11, 2005 MAYHUE, FRANKLIN BENTLEY Mr. Franklin Bentley Mayhue, 62, of McDonough, Ga., died April 11, 2005, as a result of an automobile accident. Mr. Mayhue was born Dec. 29, 1942, in Thomaston, Ga. He was the son of Nellie Milner Mayhue and the late Albert Lonzo "Red" Mayhue. He was a member of Locust Grove United Methodist Church, graduated from Henry County High School Class of 1961. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era, and was self-employed as an automobile technician. He enjoyed his family, friends and loving grandchildren, flying aircraft, fishing, and playing and picking music. Mr. Mayhue was preceded in death by his father, Albert Lonzo "Red" Mayhue Jr., in 1964 and brother, James Edward Mayhue, in 1998. Interment will be in the Locust Grove Cemetery. KRAPP, HOWARD K. Mr. Howard K. Krapp, 67, of Moline, Ill., formerly of McDonough, Ga., passed away Monday, April 11, 2005, at his residence. Mr. Krapp was born Feb. 23, 1938, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to the late Howard and Mary Cathrine Finnegan Krapp. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Pearson Taylor, in 1998. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and retired after 24 years of service, while stationed at Fort McPherson in 1979. April 12, 2005 MALOCH, BILLY DEAN Mr. Billy Dean Maloch, 74, of Locust Grove, Ga., died April 12, 2005, at Southern Regional Medical Center. Mr. Maloch was born Jan. 19, 1931, in Jackson County. He was the son of the late Sadie Ledora Wilson and Ronald Clarence Maloch. Billy was a member of First Baptist Church of Locust Grove. He served his country in the U.S. Army, retired with 23-plus years with USPFO, and worked 11 years in Public Works with the city of Locust Grove. He was a member of McDonough Masonic Lodge No. 37, and a Shriner. He enjoyed his family, family reunions, jokes, traveling, golf and picking the guitar. She was the daughter of the late Hines and Mageline Crowe Bennett. Mrs. Awtrey worked for the Dekalb County Police Department, serving the community as a school crossing guard, and started a flower shop, serving the community for 32 years. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. April 15, 2005 SAUNDERS, LEONARD E. Mr. Leonard E. Saunders, 79, of St. Simons Island, Ga., passed away on Friday, April 15, 2005. Mr. Saunders was a native Atlantan and attended Russell High School, where he was an outstanding athlete. He played semi-pro baseball in Florence, S.C., after graduation. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific, and received an honorable discharge for his service to his country. He was employed for 35 years by National Life and Accident Insurance Company. After retiring from National Life and Accident insurance Company, he lived in Newnan, Ga., and St. Simons Island, Ga. He was a member of White Oak Golf Club in Newnan, Ga., and Sea Palms Golf Club on St. Simons Island, Ga. He also attended St. Simons Island Community Church. Mr. Saunders is survived by his wife of six years, T-Nell Saunders of St. Simons; his beloved three daughters, Carroll Kenney of Proctor, Mont.; Cheral Turnipseed of Atlanta and Sea Island; and Pam Cheever of Newnan, Ga., and their mother, Katherine Carroll Saunders of Atlanta. In addition he has two sons-in-law, Ben Turnipseed of Atlanta and Charles Kenney of Montana. He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was a member of Oakland Baptist Church and a beloved sister, aunt, and true friend that showed her love for Christ in her daily life. April 18, 2005 ABREU, AGUEDA ANGELA Mrs. Agueda Angela Abreu, 63, of McDonough, passed away Monday, April 18, 2005, at her residence. Angela was born Feb. 5, 1942, in Cuba to the late Bernadino Gonzalez Cabanas and the late Bartola Ortega Gonzalez. She worked in the cafeteria at Pates Creek Elementary School and was a member of Jones Memorial United Methodist Church. April 20, 2005 MORSE, RANDOLPH "RANDY" E. Randolph "Randy" E. Morse, 75, of Stockbridge, Ga., formerly of Dallas, Ga., passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2005. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Betty Morse. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. JARMAN, JAMES ERNEST III Mr. James Ernest Jarman III, 14, of McDonough, Ga., died April 20, 2005, at Hugh Spalding Hospital in Atlanta. He was born March 16, 1991, in Orlando, Fla. He was the son of Lora Jarman of McDonough and Jamie Jarman of Michigan. He was known to family members as "Sugie" and his friends James. James enjoyed his family, friends, X-box, music and skateboarding. He was a student at Henry County Middle School and a member of Grace Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Locust Grove Cemetery. HARRIS, WILLIAM DONALD William Donald Harris, 77, of Riverdale, Ga., died Wednesday, April 20, 2005. Mr. Harris was a native of Newnan, Ga. He retired from Delta Air Lines in 1989 after 32 years of service. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Japan and Okinawa. April 21, 2005 WILSON, MILDRED ELOISE GADDY Mildred Eloise Gaddy Wilson went home to be with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, April 21, 2005, at Laurel Park Rehabilitation Center in Stockbridge. She was born in Marietta, Ga., on Sept. 11, 1920, to Josephine Fain Gaddy and E.Q. Gaddy Sr. She moved with her family to East Atlanta at the age of 5. She was a graduate of Girls High School and Opportunity Business School in Atlanta. She played the trumpet as a member of the Georgia Girl's Band and performed at the New York World's Fair and the world premiere of "Gone With the Wind" in Atlanta in 1939. She was also Worthy Advisor of the East Atlanta Rainbow Assembly during her high school years. Mrs. Wilson considered her most important vocation to be a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. It was her kind, loving, friendly and compassionate nature that drew so many people to her. She was an extremely talented homemaker and took pride and pleasure in all things about her home, including her plants and flowers. She excelled in sewing, cooking and baking and many other creative activities. She made all of her daughters' clothes as they were growing up, including their formal prom dresses and the wedding gown worn by all three daughters and her granddaughter. She was always ready to share these talents to show her love and concern for others through many unselfish deeds. A lifelong Methodist, Mrs. Wilson was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Ellenwood. She was an active member of the Friendship Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women, having served several terms as president. She had a deep and abiding faith in her Lord and Savior and made service to her Lord and her church a top priority. Numerous charity projects through the years were always a focus for her. A very important philosophy of Mrs. Wilson's was, "Variety is the spice of life." She participated in a number of activities throughout her life, including her church activities, Kings Row Woman's Club, Wesley Chapel Woman's Club, sewing clubs and bridge groups. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers E.Q. Gaddy Jr. and Mercer Gaddy, sister Josephine Pruitt Gaddy and son-in-law Monte C. Harris. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, James Y. "Jim" Wilson Jr.; daughter, Janet Wilson Harris, Stockbridge; daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Bob Stryker, Lilburn, and Patti and Hugh Moore, Stockbridge; 10 grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Mo"; and a great-grandson, 4 months old, whom she was able to meet before she went to her heavenly home. HIGHTOWER, EMILY ROGERS Emily Rogers Hightower, 89, of McDonough, Ga., died Thursday, April 21, 2005. She was born July 28, 1915, in Union County, S.C., to the late Samuel L. and Mary Josephine Moore Rogers. Mrs. Hightower was a Legal Secretary to Attorney Ernest Smith, the senior partner of the legal firm Smith, Welch and Brittain, for 20-plus years. Most importantly, she was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. Her husband, Clinton W. Hightower Sr., preceded her in death. Her children, Clint W. Hightower Jr., McDonough, and Lynn (Wade) H. Brannan, McDonough; granddaughters, Leigh Anne Brannan, Smyrna, and Ginger Brannan, McDonough; and nieces and nephews survive Mrs. Hightower. Interment will follow at McDonough City Cemetery. April 22, 2005 CURTIS, ROBERT LEE SR. Mr. Robert Lee Curtis Sr., 81, of McDonough, Ga. died Friday, April 22, 2005, at Henry Medical Center. Mr. Curtis was born Oct. 9, 1923, in Milledgeville, Ga., son of the late Annie Taylor and James L. Curtis. He was an active member of Salem Baptist Church, retired from Atlanta Gas Light with 36 years of service, and served his country in the U.S. Army as a combat engineer. Mr. Edgar was born Nov. 10, 1923, in Fulton County, son of the late Mattie Mae Willis and Owen Bascome Edgar. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, he retired as a machinist with a printing company, served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in three major campaigns, Battle of the Bulge and Normandy, he enjoyed playing pool and his harmonica.
