All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm September 1, 2005 HARRISON, MARTHA JANE "POLLY" Martha Jane "Polly" Owen Harrison, of LaGrange, formerly of Jonesboro, passed away, Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005. She was born March 25, 1921, to Hannah Rice and John Jefferson Owen, in Fulton, Kentucky. She graduated from Fulton High School, in Fulton, Kentucky in 1940. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge, Tenn., where she served as Children's Superintendent. After moving to Jonesboro, Ga., she became an active member of the Jonesboro First United Methodist Church. Her church service included President of the United Methodist Women, wedding co-ordinator, choir director for the youth and children's choir as well as the president of her Sunday school class. She was a faithful servant of the Lord. Mrs. Harrison was employed by the U.S. Gypson Corporation from 1974-1988 as personnel director. She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a sister. Mrs. Harrison is survived by her husband, Hervey Evans "Breezy" Harrison of Vernon Woods Retirement Center in LaGrange, Ga.; Mrs. Joanna Selbie, her daughter; Mr. Ric Selbie, her son-in-law; two grandsons, John Selbie of Seattle, Wash., and David Selbie of LaGrange, Ga. and a devoted sister, Sara Owen Hayes of Oak Ridge, Tenn. Interment Sherwood Memorial Park. HAY, FRANCES REBECCA RUTLEDGE Mrs. Frances Rebecca Rutledge Hay, age 70, of Hampton, Ga. died Sept. 1, 2005. She was born May 13, 1935 in Henry County, the daughter of the late Bessie Mae Walden and Joseph Wayman Rutledge. Her husband James Floyd Hay also preceded her in death on July 23, 2005. Mrs. Hay was a member of McDonough Assembly of God. She enjoyed fishing, cooking and gardening. Survivors are her children, Karen Mae Kilgore of Hampton, Deborah Marie Speer of Newnan, Sharon Elaine Turner of Meriwether, Mark Hay of Florida, Vickie Wilson of S.C. and Rodney Hay of Macon; sister, Miriam Holder of Monroe; brothers, Wayman Rutledge of Hampton, James Rutledge of Barnesville, Joseph Rutledge of Jonesboro and David Rutledge of Stockbridge; 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Interment will be at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park in McDonough. September 2, 2005 NELSON, CHRISTINE Christine Nelson, age 82, of Stockbridge, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2005. She was born in Stockbridge, Ga., to the late James Leotis and Etta Lee Pair Adamson. Ms. Nelson always wanted to help others, even in death her desire was for her body to be donated to Emory University. She was known for her work with the Lion's Club, collecting over 5,000 pairs of glasses. She distributed food, provided transportation and every Sunday delivered flowers to the elderly and shut-ins. Ms. Nelson loved to travel and had driven to every state except Hawaii. She was the secretary for 25 years of the Happy Hour Club, a member of the Jolly Sixties at Liberty Baptist Church, and taught the five- and six-year-old children at the First Baptist Church of Stockbridge where she has been a member since 1949. Ms. Nelson is survived by her son, Raford Chambers, of Stockbridge; grandchildren, Ben Chambers, Brian Chambers, Bartow Chambers and Lynn Evans; great grandchildren, Charlie Evans and Marie Evans all of Stockbridge; sisters-in-law, Elsie Mae Adamson of Stockbridge, and Phyllis Chambers of Jefferson, Ga. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church cemetery. ATHERLY, DONALD ROY Donald "Danny" Roy Atherley, age 67, of Stockbridge, passed away on Friday, Sept. 2, 2005. He is survived by his wife, Joan, daughters, Julissa Forbes, Desiree Delicer, and Donna Johnson, four grandchildren, two brothers, one sister and several nieces and nephews. He was affiliated with One Heart Community Church in Stockbridge. He was retired from the United States Navy where he was employed as a Civil Servant. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge. September 3, 2005 DAVIS, JESSIE MAE Mrs. Jessie Mae Davis, age 97, of McDonough, Ga., died Sept. 3, 2005 at Dogwood Forest. Mrs. Davis was born March 28, 1908 in Folkston, Ga., the daughter of the late Florence Seaborn Rodenberry and Edward Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Davis in 1996, daughter, Pat Roberts in 2000, son-in-law, Bud Roberts in 2002, and sister Bessie Lee Cobb. Mrs. Davis was a member of the First Baptist Church of McDonough, she was a devoted homemaker and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors are her grandchildren; Lisa and Mike Hawkins of Monticello, Tammy and Henry Page of Lilburn and Rhonda and Bart Staines of Woodstock; great grandchildren, Jennifer and Brad Lunsford, Holly Middleman and Justin and Tyler Hinson; great-great granddaughter, Brynn Lunsford. Interment will be at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park. LANGLEY, BETTY ANN Mrs. Betty Ann Langley, 61, of Jonesboro, passed away Sept. 3, 2005. Surviving are her husband, C.F. "Buddy" Langley, brother, Carl Hester of Jackson; sisters, Linda Carrell of Carlsbad New Mexico, and Johnnie Martin of Powder Springs; 24 nieces and nephews and 29 great nieces and nephews. Interment will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. GARNER, DALLAS L. Dallas L. Garner, 77, of Jonesboro, Ga. passed away on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005. Mr. Garner, a founder and President of the Georgia Masonry Association, was a loving husband and father who was regarded by his children to be the best dad ever. Interment at Noah's Ark Baptist Church Cemetery in Jonesboro, Ga. Survivors include: His loving wife of 58 years, Mrs. Mattielene Garner; daughter, Wanda and Troy Williams; sons, Windell and Kaye Garner and Wayne and Paula Garner; six grandchildren, one great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews. September 5. 2005 TURNER, GLENN Glenn Turner, age 90, of McDonough, Ga. died Monday, September 5, 2005. He was born April 18, 1915 in Riverdale, Ga. to the late Howard Clifford and Carrie Olive Huie Turner. Mr. Turner was a member of the McDonough Presbyterian Church, a former member of the Riverdale Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder. He was awarded a Lifetime Membership in the International Lions Club and was recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. Most important to him was family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His sons Howard William Turner and James Lee Turner also preceded him in death. Mr. Turner is survived by his wife of 64 years Estelle; son, David Turner of James Island, S.C.; daughters-in-law, Dee Sanders of McDonough, and Vicki Turner of James Island, S.C.; grandchildren, Brian Turner, Glenn Howard Turner II, Isaac Turner, and Grady Turner; and one great grandson, Nathan Turner. CARLSON, SARAH ELIZABETH Sarah Elizabeth Young Carlson of McDonough, Ga. passed away Monday, Sept. 5, 2005 at the age of 79. She was the daughter of the late Clifford Anderson Young and Ione Mullins Brooks. She died at home surrounded by her husband, children, grandchildren and sister. Affectionately known to her many friends as "Libby," she will be remembered by all who knew her as a kind, gentle and gracious southern lady who never met a stranger. She enjoyed a good game of bridge, cheering for the Auburn Tigers and Atlanta Braves, and being with friends and family. She was a member of the Perimeter Garden Club for over 35 years and was a past president of the DeKalb County PTA Council. She will be truly missed by her family and friends, who know she is finally at peace and free of the pain of cancer and arthritis. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Dr. Neal R. Carlson; her children Ernie and Wendy Carlson of Auburn, Ala., Karen and Andy Higgins of McDonough, Ga., Steve and Bonnie Carlson of Charlotte, N.C. and Sherrie Gilreath of Griffin, Ga.; her grandchildren Justin, Cody, Philip, Daniel, Jake and Anna Malloch; and her sister and brother-in-law, Charlotte and Roddy Mobley of Dillard, Ga. Interment at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial in McDonough. SHELLNUTT, CHARLOTTE HATFIELD Mrs. Charlotte Hatfield Shellnutt, age 73, of McDonough, Ga. died Sept. 5, 2005 at Sacred Journey Hospice. Mrs. Shellnutt was born July 11, 1932 in Atlanta, the daughter of the late Esma Geneva Head and William Scott Hatfield. She is also preceded in death by a son, Thomas Matthew Shellnutt in 1950; husband John Henry Shellnutt Jr. in 1985; and a sister, Eleanor Henson in 1985. She was a member of Sharon Baptist Church, graduate of Russell High School's Class of 1949, and she enjoyed reading and fishing. Interment at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park September 6, 2005 BRAY, CLAYTON Clayton Bray, age 50, of McDonough, Ga. died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005. He was born in Atlanta, Ga. to John L. and Tommie Jean McGouirk Bray. Clayton was employed with Forest Park Sheet Metal as welder since the age of 14, and graduated from Henry County High in 1974. Clayton was an avid outdoorsman, and loved his nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Clayton is survived by his wife, Jayne Bray; sisters, Beverly Cronan, McDonough, Ga., Patricia Ann Goulden, Flovilla, Ga.; brother, Clifford Edward Bray, Forsyth, Ga., several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Alfred Bray. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. McGINNIS DAVID C. David C. McGinnis, age 61 of McDonough passed away Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005. He was born December 15, 1943 in Gwinnett County to the late Carrie Elizabeth Tatum and Roy Carrol McGinnis. David served his country in the U.S. Army, was a former Atlanta Police Officer and loved woodworking. Survivors include his wife, Leisa W. McGinnis of McDonough; children, Scott and Gina McGinnis of Morrow, Rise McGinnis, Mandy and Jamie Chapman of Hampton, Brian McGinnis of Stockbridge, and Brandon Glaze of McDonough; brothers and sisters in law, Don and Terri McGinnis of Ellenwood, Tom and Joanne McGinnis of Locust Grove; sisters and brothers in law, Shirley and Harvey Williams of McDonough, Robin and Ted Waterfall of Dallas; four grandchildren. ROBINSON, BETTY SLATE Betty Slate Robinson, age 78, of Stockbridge, Ga. died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005. She was born Aug. 10, 1927, in Atlanta, Ga. Ms. Robinson was secretary to Mayors Hartsfield, and Ivan Allen Jr. and formerly employed with Alston and Bird Law Firm. She was a member of Stockbridge First United Methodist Church where she was very active in her Sunday school class and the Happy Hearts. But most important to her were her family and pets. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Ms. Robinson is survived by her children, Charles (Kay) Robinson, Rebecca (Robert) Stavely, Rhonda Robinson, Robert (Sherri) Robinson; grandchildren, Chuck (Erin) Robinson, Will Robinson, Katie (Matt) Dunn, Elizabeth and Christopher Stavely, Austin, Tiffany and Jenna Robinson; great grandchildren, Ashley and Nicholas Robinson, Tyler, Matthew, and Jarred Dunn. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. HARMON, WILMA JEAN ROBERTS Mrs. Wilma Jean Roberts Harmon, age 65, of McDonough passed away Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005 at the Southern Regional Medical Center. She was born July 10, 1940 in Banks County to the late Robert Benjamin Roberts and was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Luke Young. She was a member of the Locust Grove United Methodist Church, loved crafts, reading and gardening. Survivors include her husband, Charles N. "Mr. Charlie" Harmon of McDonough; mother, Kitty Roberts of Gainesville; children, Melanie and John Young of Mansfield, Michelle Harmon of Franklin, N.C.; sister, Willie Jane Gable of Gainesville; grandchildren, Jeremy Young of Covington and Sheri Mathews of Mansfield; great grandchildren, Luke and Nathan Young, Jake and Katelyn Mathews; and several nieces. Interment will follow at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park. September 7, 2005 HAYNES, DENNIS H. Dennis H. Haynes, age 76, of Hampton, Ga. died Sept. 7, 2005 at Henry Medical Center. Mr. Haynes was born April 2, 1929 in White County, the son of the late Cleo Ida Loggins and Adie Grover Haynes. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Hampton where he served on several committees, he served his country in the US Army, he was a volunteer with the Henry County Sheriff's Department and a member of Southern Wheels Motorcycle Club and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Haynes was preceded in death by his parents, Cleo and Adie Haynes, son, Roger Dennis Haynes; daughter, Denise Louise Haynes; brothers Fred and Truitt Haynes; and sister, Dorothy Shedd. Interment will be at Berea Cemetery in Hampton. September 8, 2005 KNIGHT, SARA BETH Sara Beth Knight, age 28, passed away on Sept. 8, 2005. Sara is survived by her husband Kavin Knight, children Kaleb and Alyssa Knight, mother Janet Matte, father Roger Matte, sister Jill Lecchesi, mother and father-in-law Jerry and Nancy Knight, several nieces and nephews and many friends. PAYNE, EVA GOSSETT Mrs. Eva Gossett Payne, age 84 of McDonough, formerly of Hampton, passed away Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005 at her home after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Payne was born June 22, 1921 in Spalding County, daughter of the late J. Wilbur Gossett and the late Mattie Odessa Nichols Gossett. Mrs. Payne was married 44 years to the late William Alvin Payne. Mrs. Payne had three brothers, the late Claude Gossett, Franklin Gosett and Thomas Gossett. She retired from Dundee Mills in 1985 and was a long-time member of Berea Christian Church in Hampton. Upon her retirement she enjoyed keeping her great-granddaughter. In 2004 she became sick and her daughter retired from her job to stay home and take care of her dear mother. Mrs. Payne is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Terrel "Buck" Jones of McDonough; 3 grandchildren, Melanie Martinez of Locust Grove, Hollie & B.J. Jeffcoat of Griffin and Wesley Henson of Dallas, Ga.; 2 great-grandchildren, Suzanne Martinez and Jackson Jeffcoat; sisters-in-law, Margaret Gossett, Lena Mae Payne both of Griffin and Ilene Payne of Jackson. Interment followed at the Midway United Methodist Church Cemetery. September 9, 2005 SOUDERS, RICHARD GAIL Richard Gail Souders, age 88, of Morrow, passed away on Friday, Sept. 9, 2005. He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Easter. Also surviving him are his children, Katrinka Major of Douglasville, Richard and Judy Souders of Castle Rock, Co., Evelyn and Richard Schmitt of Ocala, Fla., Lillian and Charles Tucker of Henderson, Tenn., 11-grand children, 19-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and 3 sisters, Evelyn Cracraft, Ilda Kline and Norma Jean Branstetter. Mr. Souders was retired from the U.S. Army as a helicopter mechanic, and served in Vietnam and Korea. He also retired from Northwest Airlines as a computer programmer. In his leisure time, he loved playing golf, fishing, and was an avid Atlanta Braves baseball fan. Interment will follow at Camp Memorial Park. September 10, 2005 CROMWELL, DYER CHASE, JR. Cromwell Dyer Chase, Jr. (Joe) died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005 following a valiant fight against cancer. He was born in Putnam, Conn. on Jan. 4, 1937 to Cromwell Dyer and Attie Burton Chase. He grew up in Brooklyn, Conn. and served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Fort Bragg, NC. He was honorably discharged. While in service, he met and married Peggy Ann Moseley on Sept. 22, 1962 at Stockbridge Presbyterian Church. They were happily married for 43 years. They have one daughter, Karen Rebecca Chase of Augusta, Ga. Joe worked for Vulcan Materials Company of Stockbridge from 1963-1971 as a heavy equipment operator. In 1971, Joe, Peggy, and Karen moved to Brooklyn, Conn. In 1992, he returned to Stockbridge and worked at Eagle's Landing Golf Course and last worked for the city of Stockbridge. He retired from there in 2004. He was a member of the Stockbridge Presbyterian Church. Joe loved gardening, woodworking, reading, and puttering around the house. His daughter and granddaughters were the lights of his life. He is survived by his loving wife Peggy of Stockbridge, daughter Karen Chase, son-in-law Gary Bell and granddaughters Elizabeth and Katherine Chase Picciano of Augusta, mother Attie Burton Chase, brother and sister-in-law Burton and Brenda Chase of Brooklyn, Conn., sisters and brothers-in-law Alice Dutremble, Nancy and Henry Charron, Barbara and Gaylen Getchell of Danielson, aunts Elsie Stark and Doris Johnson of Putnam, Conn., 11 nieces and nephews, 20 great nieces and nephews, and many cousins. HUTCHESON, KEITH REAGAN Mr. Keith Reagan Hutcheson of Fayetteville passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005 at the age of 43. Mr. Hutcheson was a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro. September 12, 2005 SKROBOT, ANN Mrs. Ann Skrobot, age 84, of McDonough, passed away Monday, Sept. 12, 2005 at Henry Medical Center. She was born Aug. 5, 1921 in Nanty Glo, Pa. to the late Valentine and Anne Cisz Penksa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Stephen Skrobot in 1985. She taught kindergarten and first grade in Florida for 12 years and was retired from Kmart. She was an 18-year member of St. James the Apostle Catholic Church, loved reading, crocheting, and was a loving mother and grandmother. Survivors include her children, Penny and Gary Simmons of McDonough, Dale and Betty Skrobot of McDonough, Dennis and Tschia Skrobot of Woodstock; 15 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; sisters, Marge and Ed Zupancic of Las Vegas and Marie Zupancic of Willoughby, Ohio; nieces and nephews. BELL, ROBERT JACKSON "JACK" Mr. Robert Jackson "Jack" Bell, age 65 of Jackson, Georgia and recently of Palatka, Florida passed away Monday, Sept. 12, 2005. Mr. Bell was born July 29, 1940 in Fulton County to the late Thomas Augustus Bell and Rebecca Olive Bell. He was preceded in death by sisters, Gladys Bell and Jane Bell Bryant. He was a graduate of College Park High School and spent his 42 year career in the airline industry, beginning with Southern Airways until his retirement with Northwest Airlines. Mr. Lail was born Jan. 10, 1944 in Graham County, N.C. to the late Dock Clifford and Zada Ruth Williams Lail. He was preceded in death by brothers, Ray Jack Lail, William Grannville Lail, Marvin Larry Lail and a sister, Mary Louise Rogers. He served his country in the U.S. Army, was a supervisor at Metro Metals, and was a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church in North Carolina. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Jonesboro. September 13, 2005 THOMAS, GABRIEL L. (GABE) Gabriel L. (Gabe) Thomas, age 84, of McDonough, Ga. died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005. He was born in Benton, Tenn. to Gabriel L. and Mary Frances McKay Thomas. Mr. Thomas was Executive Secretary to the Atlanta Produce Dealers Association and also owned and operated Thomas Accounting Service for over 50 years. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church for many years. He was a member of Gideons International and a 50 year plus member of Airport Area Kiwanis. Interment will follow at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery . September 14, 2005 SKINNER, JOYCE E. Joyce E. Skinner, age 71, died at her home in Rex, Ga. on Sept 14, 2005. She is survived by her husband Mr. Jimmie R. Skinner and three sons: Neal Skinner of Griffin, Ga.; Phillip L. Skinner of Rex, Ga. and Joseph Skinner of Stockbridge, Ga. eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Interment at College Park Cemetery. September 15, 2005 MORRIS, KENNETH L. Kenneth L. Morris, 50 of Riverdale, Ga. passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2005. A cabinet maker by trade, Mr. Morris was also a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Jonesboro, Ga. Rochwick, a loving, devoted husband, father and son, age 55, of Morrow, died Sept. 16, 2005. He was born Sept. 26, 1949 in Elmhurst, Il. and was a graduate of Auburn University. He was employed by Allstate Insurance Company for 25 years. September 17, 2005 JOHNSON, LILLIAN IRENE Lillian Irene Wilkerson Johnson, age 87, of North Augusta, S.C., formerly of Stockbridge, passed away on Sept. 17, 2005. September 18, 2005 MASON, BOBBIE ANN Mrs. Bobbie Ann Mason, age 70, of McDonough, Ga. passed away on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005 at Christian Ministries Hospice. Mrs. Mason was born in Spalding County on June 13, 1935 to the late David Sidney Thompson and the late Lena Coussons Thompson. She was preceded in death by sister, Margaret Deal. Mrs. Mason was a member of the West Sunnyside Community Church and a retired secretary with FAA Atlanta ARTCC in Hampton, Ga. Mrs. Mason is survived by her husband Charles H. September 19, 2005 LASSETER, RUTH MILSTEAD Mrs. Ruth Milstead Lasseter, age 71, of Villa Rica, formerly of McDonough, Ga., died Monday, Sept. 19, 2005. Mrs. Lasseter was born in Chattooga County, the daughter of the late Clara Faye Pettijohn and Julias Jesse Milstead. Mrs. Lasseter enjoyed baking and sharing with friends. He was born in Norfolk, Va. to William Allan and Leone Alice Riddle Love. Mr. Love was currently employed with Pike Electric and previously was employed with JC Penney distribution center. He was a graduate of North Georgia College where he played soccer and was an Academic officer. Rich enjoyed the outdoors, camping and working in the yard. He enjoyed cooking, in the kitchen and outdoors on the grill. And he loved animals all of them. He was born Sept. 21, 1921 in Greene County, Ga., the son of the late Rusha Statham Austin and William L. Austin. He was a member of First Baptist Church of McDonough and he retired with 26-plus years of service in the U.S. Army. He was also preceded in death by siblings Rachel House, Dorothy Nelson, Doris Jones, Horace Austin and William L. Austin. Survivors include his loving wife, Elizabeth Moseley Austin of McDonough; children, James M. Interment will be at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta with complete military honors. September 25, 2005 SWANSON, HORACE HUBERT Mr. Horace Hubert Swanson, age 83, of McDonough, Ga. died Sept. 25, 2005. Mr. Swanson was born Nov. 27, 1921 in Towns County, Ga., the son of the late Bertha Lee Tatum and Erastus Burt Swanson. He was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Burt Swanson, in 1956. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church of McDonough, past president of the McDonough Lions Club, a graduate of the University of Georgia, served his country in the U.S. Air Force and retired from Ford Motor Company as a cost analyst with 36 years of service. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and enjoyed reading and gardening. He was born in Corsicana, Texas to Lon S. and Evelyn Garrett Canady. J.B. was an avid golfer who played until his health would not let him. He then watched T.V. and loved the Dallas Cowboys and loved to write. J.B. was preceded in death by his son, Shawn Canady and father, Lon S. Canady and is survived by wife, Luise Canady, McDonough; daughters, Angela D. Franklin, Stockbridge, Kelly R. Mr. Phillippe was born Oct. 19, 1925 in Lawrence County, Ill., the son of the late Garnet Edna McCarty and Martin Alexander Phillippe. He was a member of McDonough First United Methodist Church, retired with Caterpillar Tractor Co with 35 years of service, served his country in the U.S. Air Force in World War II and was a prisoner of war in Russia. Survivors are his wife, Mary Phillippe of McDonough; children, Dru and Yong Phillippe of Stockbridge and Don and Terrie Phillippe of Sparland, IL; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren; brothers, Charles Phillippe of Indiana and Glenn Phillippe of Texas; numerous nieces and nephews. September 27, 2005 HOWARD, GORDON "SARGE" Gordon "Sarge" Howard, age 75, of McDonough, Ga. died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2005. He was born in Apison, Tenn. to Creed E. and Lucille Ware Howard. Mr. Howard was an Army Veteran serving during the Korean conflict. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially working in the garden. Most important to him was family. Gordon was a devoted and loving, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was born in Atlanta, Ga. to Tommy Edward and Sheila Arlene Hembree McGraw. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors,was an avid golfer, and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Mr. McGraw was a good athlete and enjoyed all sports. Known affectionately as the prankster he loved to play jokes on you. But most importantly he loved his family. He was a loving husband, father, brother and son. Mr. McGraw is survived by his wife Connie, his sons, Shane Duncan McGraw, and Chad Allen McGraw, all of Stockbridge, his parents Tommy and Sheila McGraw, Newnan, Ga.; brother, John Walter McGraw, Newnan, GA; grandmother, Letha McGraw, Riverdale, Ga.; father and mother in-law, Harvey and Margaret Farmer, Conyers, Ga.; 2 nieces and 3 nephews.
