The Henry County Weekly, January 8, 1897
     Mrs. Margaret Alexander died at the home of her son, Mr. W. E. Alexander, 
about four miles west of McDonough, last Thursday evening, Dec. 31, 1896.
     Thus was a long and beautiful life ended with the closing of the old year. 
Mrs. Alexander was born July 5, 1815, and was over 81 years old. She was the 
mother of Messrs. Elery and Sykes Alexander, and leaves a large family 
connection in Henry County. She was also a sister of Messrs. Willis and John 
Copeland of McDonough. Mrs. Alexander was highly esteemed for her many noble 
qualities and her gentle patience all through life was one of her crowning 
virtues.
     Her remains were laid to rest in the McDonough Cemetery Friday morning.
