W. Carmichael, went home to Heaven to dwell among the Angels. Bessie was such a sweet loving child that she had entwined herself around our hearts so strong that it is a hard struggle for us to give her up. Oh, how our hearts did bleed with sorrow when they told us that Bessie was gone. Well do I remember, as well as others, her little cute sayings, and especially her sweet little songs that she had learned to sing so well. The tears have been made to flow from my eyes when I have asked her to sing for me. Two songs that she sang so beautifully I remember were Sweet Bye and Bye and at the Cross. She sang so beautifully here that I know she is holding her little beckoning hands out beyond the stars singing at the Cross and waiting for her loved ones, and in the sweet bye and bye to be clasped to their loving bosoms again. At the camp meeting (1891), Bessie was at each service but one or two and seemed to enjoy it almost as well as anybody, child as she was. Is it any wonder then that the Savior who loved little children so well when he was on earth, that now he is in the glory world, should want such a sweet singer as Bessie to help swell the grand chorus. I would say to father and mother, and all who loved Bessie so much, to take courage. Part have crossed over the river and are at rest, and Bessie’s beautiful and beckoning hands are held out, and singing home at last, and waiting for you, and in the sweet bye and bye all will be reunited in the glory land. Sleep on, loved one! bye and by we’ll meet you, and then we will know why you were taken from us.
