R. Crawford, of Henry Co., well known to many of our readers, recently came to his death from a very peculiar accident. The Weekly says that about three weeks ago Mr. Crawford arose one morning to kindle a fire as usual, and in kneeling at the fire place, by some means a pen penetrated his knee, and was pulled out with only momentary pain. No further thought was given it until he came home at night, when he discovered the place had began to swell. From this it gradually grew worse until the case developed into fever and death relieved his sufferings. The death is a distressingly sad one, a wife and three small children being left to bear the burdens of life alone. The grief of the aged father was also touching, he having raised a family of eleven children, in which this was the first death to occur.
