ELLA DICKSON IS LAID TO REST Funeral services for Mrs. Ella Allen Dickson, 61, who died Thursday at the residence, 15 Nelms Street, Atlanta, were held Sunday at McDonough Carmichael and Farris were in charge. Mrs. Dickson is survived by four daughters, Mrs. I. Davis, Mrs. S. E. Coker, Mrs. W. E. Veal and Miss Mamie Dickson and six sons, W. L. Dickson, of Griffin, and C. J. Dickson, of McDonough, and E. S., Frank, Roy and Ralph Dickson, of Atlanta. She ran the journey of her life in 61 years. It is a path marked with deeds of kindness and cheer. Flowers, not thorns, sunshine, not shadow, did she scatter everywhere. With these she was lavish. Truth was the inspiration of her life and by kindness she exemplified its great worth. Was not her life full of God-likeness. Let us, if possible gather up the elements of the life of the departed one and weave of them a picture for the walls of memory. The book of life was opened and a new name was written therein by the hand of love. Soon would the unfolding beauties of springtime have charmed her coming. Today the eternal springtime with everlasting glories belongs to our sister. Her life was a rare jewel, her spirit as gold refined in the fire, ready for heaven. To her struggle and burden bearing of earth are ended, and we confidently trust that like one who awakes from a troubled sleep she has awakened to see life’s endless morning break and knows her self at home with all the vast throng of loved ones, missed from earth, safe about her. Her home instincts were strong here in this fevered world of disappointment. Her affection for friends and kindred was tender and abiding. Gone from our sight! but because life and love are stronger than death she is ours still. She is still the mother of the dear children, upon whom she doted with such clinging fondness, and may she not by this very transition wield over them a stronger force for goodness and truth than before.
