OBITUARY.

Mr. John Dorsey departed this life, at his residence in Henry county, Ga., 
January 15, in his ninetieth year.
Mr. Dorsey was one of the early settler of Henry county, and by his energy and 
business qualifications soon became a most prosperous and influential citizen.  
After rearing a large and respectful family, and accumulating a sufficiency of 
this world's goods, he was bereaved by the death of his first wife, but was 
married to his second wife, who survived him about two months.  During the last 
two years of his life he was much concerned about his soul's salvation, often 
found engaged in prayer and seeking to know Christ crucified.  His relatives 
and friends have the comfortable assurance that in death he was transported to 
a state of happiness.
"To die is to gain."

Mrs. Elvira Dorsey, wife of John Dorsey, died March 17, in the 56th year of her 
age.
She had been twice married, was the mother of several children, but one of whom 
lived to be grown-all having gone before her to the Spirit land.
Mrs. Dorsey was, from her youth, devotedly pious, lived a consistent member of 
the Baptist church, and died in the triumphs of the Christian faith. After the 
death of her husband she felt impressed that the work God had given her to do 
was finished.  She patiently awaited the Master's call and soon obeyed the glad 
summons and followed those who had gone before to the place where Jesus is.
She requested her sister not to grieve-that separation would be brief.
"Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord."
