He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Jasper Green. He was married on Dec. 9th 1874 to Miss Georgia Russell who survives him as do two of his children, Mrs. Eula Smith and Mrs. James Carmichael. Mr. Green joined the McDonough Presbyterian Church in 1875. He went with the Timber Ridge Church at its reorganization in 1879. He was elected an Elder and Clerk of the session in which capacity he served efficiently and faithfully for more than forty years. Resolutions adopted by session and Board of Deacons of Timber Ridge Church July 15th, 1923. Whereas, in the providence of almighty God, our Heavenly Father it has been his will to call from us on May 27th, 1923 our beloved Elder, friend and brother in Christ. And whereas, in his going we are conscious of our great loss, to our church of a most earnest and consecrated leader who gave unstinted of his time and money to sustain Timber Ridge Church and to advance the kingdom of God to our county, of a citizen who supported whole heartedly every important movement of which stood for the uplifting of our public life of a friend who helped as at his own expense and loss. Therefore be it resolved that we do by these Resolutions express something of our personal loss and so now in the home going of elder D. Jasper Green who was a friend to the poor and needy and who like his master went about doing good. That we express our sympathy to his widow, children, grandchildren and to his brother and commend them to the comfort of the sympathy and love of Christ Jesus. That a page of our session book be set aside in Mr. Green’s memory wherein these resolutions be written. That a copy of these resolutions be sent to the family. L. D. KING, Pastor.
