After an illness of several months, Judge J. F. Glass passed peacefully to his long rest on Wednesday morning last, Nov. 18, 1896, at his home near Tunis. Judge Glass had been in feeble health several years, and having suffered a severe hemorrhage a few months ago, from which he never fully recovered, his death had been expected at most any time. He was over seventy years of age, and was one of Henry county's best and most substantial citizens. Being exceedingly prompt, spright and true in all his dealings, he was always accorded the fullest confidence and esteem of all who knew him. During the war, he was made Judge of what was then known as the Inferior Court, in which position he made an efficient and faithful officer. Indeed, in all the walks of life, Judge Glass was a true and honest man, and leaves a clean record behind him. He raised a large family of sons and daughters, who as representatives of a worthy father are filling the places of good, useful citizens, and many friends join them in mourning their loss. The remains were laid to rest in the family burial ground at 11 o'clock yesterday morning, in presence of a large number of neighbors and friends who gathered to pay the last sad tribute to his memory. Peace to his ashes. File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/henry/obits/ob5178glass.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 1.9 Kb
