Mr. Jason Gresham was murdered by a convict on the plantation of T.W. Vason & 
Son, in Henry County, last Friday morning.  Mr. Gresham was the guard over some 
convicts who were cutting down a tree, and at an unguarded moment one of the 
convicts named Oscar Carmichael struck Gresham on the back of his head with the 
butt of an ax and killed him instantly.
