DEATH OF MR. J. J. HAMMOND
     Mr. J. J. Hammond age 53 died at his home near Luella, last Saturday 
morning, after an illness of several months duration. He had been afflicted for 
some time, and although his death was not unexpected, yet it has brought 
sadness to his friends and loved ones.
     He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Willie White, of 
Porterdale, two sons, Messrs. Jesse and Howard Hammond, of Locust Grove, and 
one brother, Mr. A. H. Hammond, of Locust Grove, and one half brother, Mr. Ben 
Hammond, of Rockdale County.
     Funeral services were held at Honey Creek Church in Rockdale County, 
Sunday afternoon at 1 o’clock. Rev. Truit officiating with interment in the 
church yard. Clark & Keen, funeral directors, W. G. Thompson, in charge.
