D. Tarpley Mr. L. D. Tarpley died suddenly at his home last Saturday evening, about five miles west of McDonough. As was well known to his friends, he had been in an almost helpless condition a good long while from the effects of a stroke of paralysis, and when the second attack came complete paralysis set in, and in a very short while ended his life. With the assistance of some of the family he had gone out on his front porch, and with an exclamation of pain sank in his chair and expired of pain before anything could be done for him. Mr. Tarpley served as a faithful and gallant soldier through the Confederate war, and was a good citizen of Henry county. He had the respect and esteem of all who knew him, and much sympathy was extended him in his affliction. A large number of friends gathered Sunday afternoon to attend the funeral, when his remains were laid away in the family burial ground.
