Whitfield at my father’s-this day was 1 year(ago)I was coming from Henry Co. to Dooly-was between Dr. Slawter and Nathan Bryant’s”. [for Dec. 15-24 entries, see page five] “Commense here at the 1st day of Dec”. December 1st 1852-“went to Levi H. Turner’s-or was there-went to Zeno Cook, T. J. Martins to John Hails to A. C. Miller’s to L. H. Turners-by W. H.(Wade Hampton) Turner’s to McDonough-for L. H. Turner to get him some lether-he met me at the shoe(?)shop-then we went to James Berries-just looking about(?)-then to A. C. Miller’s store-W. H. Turner(?)went with us L. H. T.’s-I was about to swap horses with John Dolton-next morning swapt-I went to C. Oslins to see him- he was at Jeese P.(?)Prickets-went there saw him-A. Hearns to John Childers-ate dinner-W. T. Turner’s-to Joseph T. Knowles all night-this being the 3 day of December 1852-being Friday[probably the 2nd day, also]. The 4th-“to A. Brewer’s..to G.(?)W. McMullan’s(?)to John Skiner-ate dinner-to Wm Caps(Capes?)to J. Hail’s-received a letter from home dated 15 day of Nov.-to T. J. Martin’s all night-all next day-the(5th, in)evening to Samuel Moore’s”. The 6th-“soon to T. Cooks-to Snilapsville(?)-trying for to make a school-to S Perries(?)all night”. [On the 7th, he returned to Samuel Moore’s]-“all day & night”. Next morning-“to J. H. Cawthorn(?)to A. C. Miller’s-ate dinner-L. H. Turner’s all night”. The 9th-“to Wm. T. turner’s to J. Knowles-received some money-by T. W. Sims-to T. J. Martin-to Samuel Moors til morning”.
