December 1852/January 1853

Continued: “back to S. Moore’s all night”. 

The 12th: “to the I(s)land Sholes to see about some wool hats-to James Kings 
all night”.

[Next morning, he stayed for a sale at King’s, then overnighted with Moore]-
“expecting to start home next morning”. 

[On the 15th, he was delayed by rain]-“started after dinner”.

[Daily entries continued at the top of page five]

[Begins here on Dec. 27, 1852]-“I left home to come to Henry County for to go 
to school to Jas. Hilsman-my father came(with)me..got about 4 miles this side 
of Montezuma-we lay out..blew off very cold”. [The next evening they traveled 
with Walles C. Garner]-“stade.. this side of Hopewell with him”. 

[After a night at S. Nolin’s, they came on to Samuel Moore’s in Henry Co.] 

The 31st: “we went to John Hail’s & got our horses shod-dined…on to)L. H.(Levi)
Turner’s-spent the night”. 

[On January 1st James went back to Hail’s, and his father went to]..“ Bersheba 
for to see B. G. Hooks about boarding me”. 

[After a night at Samuel Moore’s, James started to H. Prya’s(?-Frier’s-?)]-
“when I got to Green Maddux I heard the river was past fording-I put up my 
horse..waited until evening when they sat(?)me over in a bateau(?)-went to the 
widow Prya’s-all night-but saw H. P.”.
