January 18 to February 19, 1853

The 18th: “I went to S. M.(Moore’s)after my trunk and to stay with Pa-as he 
intended to start home the next morning-but he went to Jackson and in the 
evening came to B. G. H.”.

[The next day he bid his father farewell]-“not forever I hope(in November I saw 
him again)”. [His father actually started from Samuel Moore’s on the 20th]

The 22nd: “to T. J. Martin’s for to go next day to meeting at Sardis”.

The 27th: “one month today sense(?)I left home in Dooly Co Ga”.

The 29th: “about home alday(?)or B. G. H.”s which is now my home-at night E. D. 
Oslin Stade with me & C. D. Hooks”. [The next day he went to “W. T. T.”.- 
(Turner’s ?). 

February 5th he spent a night at Samuel Moore’s, returning to Bersheba the next 
day]

February 11th: “received a letter from Pa..all well..got home safe(?)..sent me 
a note on T. Cook for him to correct(?)”.

The 12th: “I went to see him(Cook)and he rectified it and then I wrote to him
(his father)at Worthville-came to S. M.(Moore’s)-John cook lent me a horse”.”

February 13th: ‘returned home-stoped at T. J. M.’s-came on-stoped at the 
Academy & wrote this”.

[The next four days he was sick with headache and chills-and had]- “to 
retire..the day of(our)Fortuit(40th?-day)examination”.

The 19th: “One month today sence I saw my father”.
