The 21st: “more pleasant-son shone brite-the day for S. Odell & J. Fergason-but Fergason prevented O”. [perhaps a reference to legal matters, see page 18] The next day, after Mr. Hilsman left at noon, James and E. D. Oslin: - “remained all the evening at the Academy”. The 26th: “I went to Sardis..loansome day with me-I saw a good many of my old schoolmates-I was on foot & went to William Crowell’s-loged”. The next day: - “the cause of my loansomness..I had left home for to sty(?)all the year” March 3rd: “in about one hour here came Thomas Knowles a cousin of mine & Joseph Knowles an Uncle of mine..one tha(?)I had nevere(?)before seen and wish I-almost- nere(?-had)”.
