KNOWLES, 1852-1858 (page 12 of 137) March 10-14, 1853 The 11th: “I went home with John Lewis(student?)all night”. The 12th: “went to A. C. Miller’s store and bot(bought)a pair(?)of shoes-$1.80 and a pocket knife-$1.50..on my returning I saw G. W. Welch another of my schoolmates at Sardis-he was one who I much esteemed-he was working the road-we had a long(?)chat... I went to the school house-directly D. L. Coleman(?)and E. D. Oslin came-we stade a while & then went to court-[likely local J. P. court]- in evening-Polemic(?)at night at the Academy- the question was whether a man should interfer(?)with his childrens affars(?)or not-it was decided in the negative…after they was threw us school boyes all stade and had us a question- Persuit or Prefection(?), William T.
