KNOWLES, 1852-1858 (page 20 of 137) June 8-13, 1853 The 8th continued: “Mr. & Mrs. White’s Secret or Hole in the wall-did you ever send your wife to Brooklin-me E. D. Oslin & L.(?)McMillan stade at the acdy-the Judge(which is our teacher)brought some cakes or sent us the key of the division where the cakes was-so we hope(helped)ourselves-G. W. W. was here-a great many persons here to night”. The 9th: “continued(to)examin all day-but neve got near threw-J. G. Pain gave us a lecture on ed-ucation-very good-me & G. W. W. could not have the opportunity of conversing-as I was busy all day & night-The names of the plays that night was The Widow’s Victum, Perfection, & The Stranger which is the best plat I ever saw acted-stade all night-more cakes & beer-E. D. O., T. Price and S. W. Turner a cousin of mine(are)very sickly in this portion of Georgia at this time”. The 10th: “here to take down the seanry-The Judge said a great deal about the said G. W. W.-against him-today received a letter from home which I call Pa’s in Dooly-which gave me much satisfaction to hear-that they was all well-some rain-we had pretty wether for the examination-the school commences Monday(in)2 weeks and what I do in this length of time(I)know not not for the best for me”. The 11th: “I went to Court here at Beersheba“.(likely Justice of the Peace court) The 12th: “I went to S. O.-they all went off-me & M. J. O.(O’Dell)stade nearly all the day there-we walked out-we heard of a show tomorrow in McDonough-I went to L. M. F.s to see if I could get a buggy of(for)me & M. J.
