KNOWLES, 1852-1858 (page 21 of 137) June 13-21, 1853 The 13th continued: “and went with S. W. Turner & he road in the buggy with M. J. O.-we came home-here writing..” The 14th: “stade nearly all day about here & store-in eve-went to Skinner’s-came (back?) for some fishing rods-came back bot. some hooks & lines..” The 15th: “me and Mr. Hilsman & J. H. his son went to the Snaping Shoals fishing-but never fished much-just looked around at the wo-rkmen-about 12 o’clock came to his house all the eve-I.(?)G.(?)Hartsfield came there-J. G. (his?)wife”. The 16th: “went to the shop and mended my(?)-I bot. Some cloth to make me some pants- got J. E. B.(Buntyn)to cut me one pare-then went to William T. Turner’s for them to make them…” The 17th: “received a letter from Lee Bates-I then started to go down in Butts- starte(d) went by James Hooten Sen.-very warm & dry-so I went to T. O. M. (Father of T J. M)-(stayed)a short time-then went to T. J. M.(Martin’s)all night The 18th: “I went to Worthville to court-a good many people-some drunk-I took a letter out of the office for S. M.(Samuel Moore?)-I left there about 1 hour by sun-came on to Mr. Head’s-to S. Moor’s all night(and)next day till 4(?)o’clock- came on by T. J. M.-came on then to S. O.-went in a short time-but stade all night-D. L. C.(Coleman)was sick-M. J. O. (w)ent to see him but I did not go-but stade all night”. The 20th: “came home as it was nearby-then went to see him(Coleman)stade all day with him-then came home-went back stade all night…” The 21st: “…I this morning finished a letter to send Pa-then went to Mr. Ammons again to stay with D. L.
