KNOWLES, 1852-1858 (page 22 of 137) June 23 to July 2, 1853 The 23rd: “in the morning went squirel hunting with him(Ammons)D. L. C. was much better today-I came to the school house with J. Brewer in eve…” The 24th: “this morning William T. Turner came to B. G. H. for me to write him a letter-E. Yancy* a cliant for Uncle Joe in ala-I did it for him-I likewise started one to my father-I just stade about here all day…” The 25th: “…I went to the store bot me 1 pare of shoes-$2.25”. The 26th: “got up and shaved-went to John Childress to for borow a horse-but did not suceed-came to L. M. T-he wanted his horse-came to home put on my close- went to S. C.(?)with B. G. H. & wife-stade a short time then we went to John F.’s(Fargason’s?)-spent the day there came back”. The 28th: “commensed in Algebra with W. Wyatt & J.(?)F. Jackson-went in eve to Mr. O. lodged”. The 29th: “ate breakfast then came to school-B. G. H.’s family was all gon to snapping shoals-came back about 10 Ocl A.M.-they often left me”. July 1st: “…some time about the drouth-as we have a rain of any consequence(?) since the first of March…” The 2nd: “I went with A. Smith-R. Alexander-Tom B. & B. G. H. fishing-we went to little & big Walnut creeks-went by W. H. T. to the fourd by L. H.
