July 2-16, 1853

The 2nd continued: “came home-I went to Wm. T. T. to get a pare of pants(?)…”.

The 3rd “started to Mt. B to meeting-stoped(at)Mr. O.-M. J.-me & his father 
went together- walked-he preached-Text 7,8 & 9 Vs of the 2nd Timothy-there was 
a good many there(?)-Hooks & wife stoped(at)L. Upchurch-came home ate diner 
then went to Mr. Os-stade at the store till meeting(?)at the acdy-Mr. O. 
preached-text 1 to 27 V of 8C. of Matthew…I am very loansom this evening”.

July 4, 1858: “…I came to the school but nearly all of the rest of the largest 
boys went to McDonough-77 year of Independence…”.

The 8th: “warm-received a letter from Pa-all well”.

The 9th: “court day-I was at court-went to Wm. T. T all night(?)”

The 10th: “came to acdy-wrote a letter to Uncle James Gray in Baker Co. Ga.-
afternoon came here-again M. J. O. soon came-I then went home with-stade all 
eve-came back-Hooks & family was gon to Mt. Carmel”.

The 12th: “commensed studing C. Botany…”

The 15th: “…went to Wm. T. T.-ate some peaches”.

The 16th: “went to Sharon to meeting-to L. H. T. with Wm. S. Fargason-his son-
in-law-we got sprinkled but just after he got there-there was a powerful rain 
for about the space of 2 hours…”.
