September 18-27, 1853

The 18th continued: "...on joining the church-then intermission-S. S. then 
preached-Tx- 7 C. 1V of Genesus(?)-then int. 1 hour-came together-J. G. P. Text 
5C. 14V. Ephesans(?)-then came home meeting againg tomorrow".

The 19th: "...I today stade at school in(stead?) on going to church...but few 
in school-me, J. F. J.(Jackson?)was all of the (???)".

The 20th: "at school-meeting continued-very good meeting but I did not go-I was 
glad to hear of such a good(one)-this eve it seased".

The 22nd: "...in eve went home with D. L. Coldman-a young man who boarded at 
Mr. Ammons-all night-Mr. & Mrs. Ammons wa gon to M.(Memory?)C. Turners-by our 
selves".

The 23rd: "...in a short while Mr. H.(Hilsman)came dismissed-I went to the 
store stade till 12 O'cl-came to dinner-went back-received a letter from my 
father-all well-went to W. T. T.s red it-in a short time Mrs Sandres(?)came in-
I left with L.(Luke?)W. J. T.(Turner?)-got some mellons came to the A. & wrote 
this-meeting at Sardis tomorrow-I want to go".

The 24th: "I went to Sardis-Br. C. C. W. preached-Text 4C 13V of Acts-then came 
to T. J. Martin's-went to Jery Stroud's-went back to Mr. M. all night-heard 
that Lee Bates was very sick".

The 25th: "went to church-Mr. Garr preached-51 P 13V-a very good s(sermon)-this 
day was the first time that I ever communed in life-came to J. B. Orr-ate 
dinner stad a short time-came on-White overtook me at McNears old place-came on 
with me to home".

The 27th: "...went to the store bot. a blank book to set down sums in algebra
(?)-hear that Mr. Bates was ded".
