KNOWLES, 1852-1858 (page 39 of 137) November 12-21, 1853 The 12th: "after breakfast I went to W. T. T.s-he was gon to Ala-but he(his) wife wanted to see me befor I left for home-then went back to Mr. A.s bade them farewell-then to the S. Shoals to B. G. H.s-then came to T. J.(Martin's ?)where I wrote this at night-some rain-I was in Dooly Co. Ga when I wrote this". The 13th: "I came to S. Moor's-just eating breakfast-I was then on my way for home-he took me 8 of 10 miles as I was foot going to take the cars(train) a(t) Forsithe-35(?)miles I had to walk-when he stoped-I came on (to) Jasper Willson's all night-then in the mor..". The 14th: "I came to Forsithe-stad till 1 Oclock-then lef on the freight for Macon-(for) Forsithe($1 1/4?)-I went to G.(Georgia?)House which was the first hoetell(?)I ever put up at-paid($1 1/2?)for self". The 15th: "came to Depot got on board of the cars-1/2 after 6 left for Montezuma-10 Ocl. arrived-met my father with a cart-he had come to market-came on 10 or 12 miles-camped-plesant wether". The 16th: "arrived home-saw all of father's family well" The 17th: "picked up potatoes where Abner* was plowing". The 18th: "stade (at)the house all day-wrote a letter". The 19th: "in the eve went to W. Bedingfield's-came to W. Posey's saw them came home-saw Mr. Rains(?)-he said he was coming next morning". The 20th: "he came stade all day till eve-Mr. R. came". [above-between lines-"wrote a letter to Mr. A. J. A."] The 21st: "I ate breakfast then me & G. D. Whitfield went to Cork-a store & office-came to D. B.(Jones?)-settled my father(')s black smith account as he had not the chance to go himself-came home wrote some letters-went with sister E.(Elizabeth)to get some bark(?)-came to the house took the gun-came away out in the pine woods by a large pine(?)wrote this.
